Four pack in ASDA UK for 8 Quid, less than 400 Baht
Yep. I usually wait for the annual sojourn to the UK, for cheap shopping, clothes, shoes, etc. Don't think I've ever bought undies or socks in Thailand in nearly 30 years..
All seem to be at least 50% polyester content here also.?

Well, that inspires confidence.

Basically these muppets will do anything to introduce the digital money system. Supposed 'money' that can be turned on and off at will, limited use to the area you live to prevent you traveling, has an expiry date if you don't spend it, taxes you at source for spending on things your Govt frowns upon or your social-credit score, and basically uses your supposed assets to control every aspect of your life.

I believe Taiwan holidays here too in great numbers
I love Taiwan
The other big story today is the Chinese police being imported to patrol tourist areas. I think that answers your question.

Maybe the Chinese Police will be enforcing the next lockdowns here?
The CCP is a massive contributor and influence to the World Health Organization, whose "Pandemic Treaty" overrides national sovereignty to every patron country signed up to it. Wonderful news..

Prior to the unfortunate incident, Siriwisuk had travelled to Wang Chan District, Rayong, to attend a meeting with the heads of government agencies
I wonder if drinks were served at this meeting? At least birthday boy limited the carnage to himself and a couple of lampposts.

Looking forward to trying the IPA and see how it compares to the Beer Lao IPA which is pretty good IMO.
Yep. The little land-locked country to the NE of here blows Thailand out of the water when it comes to domestic beer.
In fact, it's hard to name any country other than maybe Saudi Arabia that does it worse than here.

This is how the 3035 (main road through Ban Ko Rang) gets across a waterfeature just East of the village:
Maybe you can work something out about the "flipping" from it.
There are a couple of other possible crossings, but they are not covered by Streetview.
My guess is that the GPS is innocent.......but the crossing is effectively a ford during heavy rain and was obscured.
He ran to one side and/or was washed/rolled off?
Thanks. Your photo makes sense of the Thaiger's story in the OP.

Came here 30 years ago to set up a franchise from a UK engineering co. with a licensee Thai partner. The business took off, and I'm still here (and in other parts of SE Asia). Didn't really choose Thailand, as much as it chose me, I suppose.

Strange. There has been a lot of flooding in Rayong recently, but how do manage to flip the truck like that?
Also, water looks very shallow in the photo. His friend couldn't have helped Khomsan out after exiting the vehicle himself.?

Just put the phrase "climate change" at the front of any grant or funding request, and it's magically approved.
Scientists wanting funding to study, erm, squirrels just re-name their project "squirrel foraging habits adapting to climate change", and they get their money, e.g.
Someone is paying for all this..

"Greatly boost revenue" for whom?
Probably only the BIB.

Is there anything legal you can kill rats etc with?
Dogs? I had a Thai dog that was an amazing rat-catcher / killer. One quick nip behind the neck; gone.
If you don't like dogs, use a slingshot w/ BB ammo. Can get good ones on Lazada, etc.

Never heard a Thai use the n-word..
There are of course, plenty of equivalent words in Thai usually referring to skin tone.
Perhaps the referee is a fan of Samuel L. Jackson?

Wow, sorry to hear this. Broken ribs are the worst..
Hoping you recover quickly, BritMan.

No need to read past this phrase.
This is what will drive me out of this country sooner, rather than later, which is a shame because I've still got plenty of years left in the honeymoon phase.
Will Thailand become the world's first digital gulag? The majority of the populace is unsophisticated and poor enough to accept anything foisted upon them.
Thailand just paying lip-service to the Globalists they sold out to, imo.
Actual implementation of anything here is another story.

Anyone who thinks this whole idea originates from Thailand need to read up on things like Central Bank of Digital Currencies, WEF, Project2030, Smart Contracts etc.
Yep, let's you know who is backing this Govt. Digital "money" that can only be spent near to your home; has an expiry date, and can only be used at mega-corporation outlets. Your "carbon credits" assessed as you spend, etc.
It's basically using your supposed wealth and assets against you.

His former company is in deep doo-doo financially, right now. Owing creditors a lot of money.

Unless the girlfriend is well educated and in good financial standing with a full time job in Thailand or ongoing business it will next to impossible to get a visa. The USA is very strict on Thai females due to human trafficking issues.
Yes, I'm not sure there may also be a 'quota' to approve how many people allowed into the US also. My wife went for an interview this Feb, and got approved, whilst some other Thai people who my wife thought matched all criteria were rejected, seemingly arbitrarily during he same appointment time.

Thank you for correcting me, I am always on the look out for new beaches to check out so genuinely appreciate it ????
Will add Mae Rim Phim to my list of places to visit after we're done with her Brother "Passing Out" in the Army at the end of this month (That's a couple of days at Takiab Beach, Hua Hin) & my Parents visiting us next month.
Still say my favourite island/beach in Thailand is Ko Samed though ????
Cheers, Mike. Just around the corner (Eastwards) from Mae Rim Phim, there is also the lovely Ao Kai bay, and a little grouping of bars and restaurants. Occasional surfing / skim boarding tournaments and music concerts bring in the younger (Thai) set on weekends.
Anyway, not to derail the thread, some recommendations for the OP on Samet:
Sai Kaew Beach Resort.
Ao Prao Resort.
Vongdeuan Resort.
Samet Pavillion.
All within the OP's price range, and I've had good experience staying at these places w/ family.

Doesn't matter anyway as the OP asked about Ko Samed which happens to be my/our (GF is from Satun & grew up on family holidays to Koh Lipe which makes Phi Phi look like an also ran) favourite island.
(iIRC) Mae Phim beach is windy, smelly & has nothing there save from a wonderful view of the (Shell?) oil refinery but please share why it’s a better holiday destination for the OP.
That would be Mae Rumphung beach, and the view is of the lovely IRPC facility. ????
Mae Rim Phim is a bit further along the coast, and rather pretty good.

Solution: Just deflect criticism over the borders. Those degenerate foreigners again. ????
