  1. Yes... my favorite trick is to count money in front of them and say "ah, only 100k not enough..."
  2. Crossy, Of course it is quite annoying. But from technical point of view the microchip with the firmware can be taken out, and re-programmed using special device or replaced if broken. Maybe you could try to find a specialist in this area?
  3. Hi, I was thinking about buying a new car and remember that 10 years ago when I came to a Mitsu dealer they offered lower price than on vendor's website and options for free. These days, Toyota dealers say, the car will be ready in two months and discount only 20k baht. So the price is equal to the price published on the vendor's website + 1 year insurance and that's it. I checked only Pattaya and Siracha. Is the situation in BKK different ?
  4. A typical dog would bite the stray dog, not the owner. Or bark at owner with high pitch (not aggressive) barking.
  5. Hi, Buffaloes are valuable in all South Asia. Probably jokes come from someones completely unfamiliar with the culture and situation.
  6. Maybe they were desperate, maybe, I don't consider recruiting in prisons as something bad. Another link: In July, Kiev released a former commander of battalion Tornado sentenced to 11 years (he actually spent 7 years) for war crimes against civilians: https://southfront.org/zelensky-released-former-tornado-commander-from-prison-while-russians-showcase-nazis-crimes-in-donbass/
  7. I thought you were wondering that Russia takes prisoners to the war. I mentioned Ukraine does it too. Probably you also said this on 3rd or 5th page of this topic, aren't you? In the past, as you probably know, the ones who fought for the kingdom (no matter which) got much more then just freedom. The queen granted high ranks to some remarkable, bloody, merciless pirates. So, Prigozhin stands in a good company from historical point of view. My remarks were only about that. I don't have any objections to your other statements that Ukrainians are brave, willing to fight, liberated large territory etc.
  8. BKK Brain, do you know that Ukraine seeks for soldiers in prisons too ? And it happened after 4 days after the invasion. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-army-russia-prisoners-jail-b2024985.html Why you so much emphasize this ?
  9. Hi, As I was told earlier, the reason for stomach ulcer is not the smoking itself. The reason is that nicotine, as a substance, relaxes sphincters in a stomach and different bacterias and other stuff appears in areas where it should not be. I think your friend should stop consuming nicotine at all.
  10. Hi, Is there a specific law in Thailand that defines how long a vendor can "repair" broken thing ? Before I sent back the product (worth 5500 baht) they promised a refund, but then said "we will repair" and repairing it already 3 months.
  11. Hi, Why you think it will not take effect. I'm sure it will. In the fight of money vs leniency, money may win. However, when I see a young man riding a bike and holding 3-year old sleeping kid in this hand...I don't know... how would it help ? Of course he would prefer to ride a small car, but he can't afford, probably.
  12. Hi, I would create a social project for kids in Thailand's rural areas. Something like a school or extra courses (with aircon!) on English, IT, math...
  13. General rule: if you want invest in property, invest where you live. I bought condo 10 years ago, beach front - price didn't grow since that.
  14. ReloTH I'm the one who reported in person for many years. Recently I tried online reporting to avoid being fined (last day expired at Saturday night) and it worked well! Besides, they notify you by mail when you need to report again. Consider doing online reporting: https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login
  15. Guys, Probably you've seen elevator usage rule that may seem funny: "When door opened, make sure elevator is here too" Sometimes door opens without elevator arrived and people step-in automatically. It happens periodically.
  16. Hi, Did they look inside the phone or checked what kind of battery it uses ? If not, do this work for them and bring them phone and battery (bought on Aliexpress or Lazada) to replace.
  17. Why every second posters says "Chinese"? The article says the law is for foreigners. Including americans, australians, germans, russians, etc. Aren't they willing to invest too? No? If no, why bother? Besides, do you think Thailand will be sold with such a restriction "1m USD investment for 40mx40m square" ?!
  18. Or they have big family ... Big rooms in hotels are rare or more expensive.
  19. The times are changing or better to say "its returning" Once Britain exported tons of opium to China... Morphine, heroin could be bought in pharmacies...
  20. It is quite easy to replace a keyboard. If you can't do it yourself: Find a keyboard module for your model of the notebook on Lazada or Aliexpress, buy it, find a guy who could replace it. Usually they sit surrounded by old TVs and wash machines. I think 300 baht for the replacement is ok. Or in any mobile repair shop...
  21. Hi, If you plan to stay longer, consider buying a new car. Riding a new car is a pleasure. If you always got used cars, riding a new car may change your life forever. I bought 4 used cars in my life and had to repair there and there periodically. The last one I bought in Bangkok and automatic gear was broken next day.
  22. Are you sure western/american smiles are really sincere ?
  23. What a fresh idea... Then, why ... why would you put in the title of this topic "Thai relations" if it is not about cultural difference ? If you would call it "My relations", said you found her in Washington (for objectivity) and half of posters wouldn't discuss Thais, then we could concentrate on love.
