  1. "Kiattisak's main campaign message was the Pheu Thai Party had treated Pathum Thani voters like dummies. He reminded voters about Sumeth's poor performance in assisting flood victims".

Did he tell the voters what he was going to do that was different - or just rely on negativity? Any democrat supporters on the forum like to tell me what his platform was or is that it - rely on knee jerk voting. I shall not be reading to much into this.

    Main platform.

'Not being connected with, indebted to or compromised by, the PTP Party Government',

would be more than enough reason to vote for him.

But weren't you and yours crowing about no political platform from the PTP - I would have thought you'd know the democrat party one off by heart by now - now what was it.........

Of course the Democrats don't have a platform - but neither does PTP. Not one of any substance.

  2. People like to forget that Thaksin was CONVICTED while his brother in law was PM, then he decided to do a runner. I think the Thai Judiciary is still quite independent from the political fray. That's why Taksin won't come home unless a legislative whitewash allows it.

The Red shirts on trial for terrorism better get ready to move to Dubai. I think they are going to get shocked in that upcoming trial. (I think Sondhi already went there, after his 20 year conviction). Thai party in Dubai!

  3. Me too, except to add just one thing...

    Dear OP,

I am sorry if I (or other posters) were a bit harsh on this thread. I think your initial post was just asking to be ripped apart. I assume you now realise you are not a victim of racism, and I hope you are happy about that.

I also hope our paths meet again on TV as my view on life is very different to yours, which could make for some interesting debate and humorous banter.

    Yours sincerely, brit1984

I think you should look into your own self, as to why you need to be in such denial

What is so extraordinary about someone experiencing racist ?

In every country you have people thinking that foreigners should not come to their land.

Why would Thailand be THE exception.

Thai people are just like everywhere.

    You are not in Lalaland.

    Deal with it

I am disappointed you did not accept my apology but would like to wish you good luck for the future

Compared to racism, what people say here is childplay, im getting thick skinned

What you are experiencing isn't even close to racism lol. Take a walk with me in rural Tennessee, USA. Ill show you some racism.

  4. So now is your chance to answer Hardened Soul's question.

Are we supposed to be impressed?

    Impressed by what?

But I somehow feel that you've missed the point. Mai pen rai.

There was a point to this thread? I fail to grasp it.

Just to humor you - The answer is - a person's ethnicity has no bearing on their interests, jobs, etc. It might influence their behavior slightly, but really, even that is a stretch to argue. Anyone who judges by the group or the race, it a nitwit. Take people one at a time.

  5. I think when the truth comes out there will be a lot of foolish looking people on this forum. Quite frankly the racism and ignorance I have read surrounding this incident is disgusting. The video only shows the aftermath of an incident in which the victim was violently assaulted, with a metal baton, by the BTS security guard. The CCTV surveilance footage, if released, confirms that the victim (whilst carrying balloons) was assaulted. There was no violence of any kind by the victim preceding this incident, just an argument about balloons, which is proved by the evidence on the CCTV. The victim has been offered compensation by the BTS and apologised to.

The victim is a well respected, educated professional, who made a mistake trying to take balloons onto the BTS, his reaction in the video is understandable considering what happened to him.

Those of you who have contributed to the racist and negative abuse of this person should be ashamed. What would your reaction be if you were smashed in the face with a baton during an argument about balloons, infront of your daughter?

And you know this because you have seen the CCTV coverage? Prove it.

  7. that's a good move , taxi drivers need to make a bit more money .... Reducing the amount of taxis in Bangkok will help also as on my opinion they are too many taxis ,

I think there would be many who would disagree, as the availability of cheap taxi transport is one of the attractive elements of a mostly unattractive city. The number will be determined by supply and demand. If they weren't being used, and were not making money, they would not exist in such large numbers.

Well, we could debate if BKK is "unattractive' since 14 million people can't all be wrong....Personally. I love it in BKK. To each their own, yes?

Anyway, I really like your point about supply and demand. Yes, of course there must be enough work / profit for the vast numbers of cabs...or, as you have pointed out...they would go to the next best option for making money. This may be a boon for tuk tuk and motorcycle drivers who move many people and take up less road space. Of course, they will bump up rates a little...but we will still have the power to negotiate price. Often, on a short trip from BTS, a tuk tuk will say 35 baht, and I say...for 40 baht, i can sit in an air conditioned car. Now, it will will be a bit harder to sell that idea. at the end of the day, we are talking about (literally) ... pennies of difference. Mai pen rai.

I love it in BKK as well, but we can all agree that most parts of Bangkok do not qualify as "aesthetically pleasing" lol - that was the only definition of "attractive" I was going for.

  8. Scheme headed for disaster: academic, #1^

Meanwhile, Somporn Isvilanonda, an economist at the Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, said the rice-subsidy scheme had proved a failure

What the hell is "The Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand"?

Stated as if everyone should know this. But noticeable for its' absence is any reference to its source.

Red Flags pop up all over the place when I see this.

Red Flag #1 - It is acknowledged that with the exception of Nitirat, the vast majority of academics are sympathetic to the Opposition.

Red Flag #2 - Universities are also dominated by Oppositional sympathizers

Red Flag #3 - The Opposition has a penchant for laundering its' agenda through others.

Red Flag #4 - The Opposition fabricates organizational entities they like to call networks, as additional agenda laundering outlets.

So here we have reference to an academic, presumably in a University and a so-called Network dumping on the Government.

    Wot duz that tell ya!

Your "red flags" are personal opinions dressed up as "facts" - you are entitled to your opinion, but don't state them as if they are factual.
