  1. She works in a gold shop in Bang Na. Has not been anywhere in years - except for once a month coming into see her sister all the way in Onnut LOL
  2. 100% can get in Bangkok. SIL did last year. "In 2018 alone, there were 5,899 cases of dengue fever reported in Bangkok"
  3. Seen a farang stopped at lights on Rama 4 last weekend. Big bike - R1, with what looked to be a 4 year old clinging on the back. Neither had helmets on and were only wearing T shirts and shorts. To cap it off he took of like a bat out of hell when the lights changed. I will never understand why some people go 'native' like this.
  4. Price of Lettuce is Rocketing. Even some funghi are mushrooming.
  5. Pay a runner from your local Somchai's mechanic shop to do it. 1000 baht. Ive bought a few cars and bikes second hand - i just drop them off, get them to do a service and the transfer all together.
  6. Ive serviced my own a few times. I have 2 R32 units and one older R22 unit - all sharp. The regulator and charge valve fittings are the same (certainly on sharp units). The gauge is marked out showing the pressures for each type of gas as the charge pressure is very different for each. Very unlikely you will ever need to top up the gas -as what comes in the compressor from new will likely be enough - unless you have particularly long refrigerant lines running between the compressor and the indoor unit.
  7. Lucky he had the 2 Amulets then, else that fall would have killed him.
  8. We just had a nightmare order from Makro last week. Ordered on the app on sat morning and picked a delivery for sunday morning between 9-12. Waited all morning and nothing came and no one called (usually the delivery driver calls to confirm). 1pm the Mrs calls them and they say someone will call back in 10 mins - no one does. 3pm she calls again -same story. Finally 5pm she calls them and tells them to cancel it as no one has called her and its too late - which they agree to do. Monday at 3pm she gets a call from a delivery driver saying that he has her macro order. Less than half the items we had ordered yet the bill was for the full order. Mrs and the driver had to spend 15 mins going through it and striking off what was missing and totaling up the new value. Driver was really good about and not at all his fault. Never again though.
  9. There's a furniture fair at BITEC 17th to 25th of Sept. All the local furniture makers will be displaying there. I bought our leather sofa at a show there about 5 years ago. If you go on the last day there are great deals to be had on the display pieces. Got mine for 28k down from 45k - couple of little scratches only on it from the show.
  10. This time a year ago they were selling Patongo to help pay the bills.
  11. I had a duke 390 from new as my daily commuter bike for a few years and absolutely loved it. When it started needing parts though things got costly. Fuel pump failed and they had to order one from Europe. Must have came in a container as it took months. 10k or something crazy like that. Let it go after that. You tend to outgrow the little bikes pretty quickly anyway. The duke tops out pretty fast and you find yourself going for another gear it doesn't have.
  12. They are marking up your bill - MEA rate is around 4 baht a unit. Based on that the real bill is 3k month - which sounds about correct for a couple of ac's, cooker, shower etc.
  13. You can get something like this on Lazada. Will allow you to use your tap as normal and then just divert the water to the filter when needed. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/bubblerconnectordiverter-i1784358275-s5219702259.html?clickTrackInfo=undefined&search=1&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.i40.70cd7071gQOjz5
  14. Sounds very similar to Suvarnaphumi Airport. Likely so many hands out during construction that they had to cut corners to get the job done. Big contractor gets the deal due to connections and brown envelopes then in turn subs parts out at half the price to another contractor.
  15. Really doesn't take long till their old habits kick back in again. Less than a year ago was the hard luck stories of only getting one fare a day.
  16. Violating Section 69(1) of the Copyright Act and fined between 20,000 and 200,000 baht. From memory we got hit with the full 200k. Then on the licenses we purchased from Amazon i think we had to pay a customs related penalty plus the Thai VAT. Around 250k all in sounds familiar. That was about 4 years ago.
  17. Economic crime suppression division of the police are the guys that would turn up. Usually they act on tip offs - but occasionally they have targeted programs like they had a few years ago - where they visit companies unannounced and audit your computers and software. They came to our place and found some ACAD and photoshop copies that guys had installed themselves. Quite hefty fines and very detailed. They even pulled us on having some licenses purchased online from the USA - saying that if Thailand has a distributor - the licenses must be purchased from them. Came back a few months later and followed up. Not saying its likely - but it does happen.
  18. Just a copy and paste from their website. https://www.riverkwaijunglerafts.com/ CTRL+C and V must be wore out on this "writers" keyboard.
  19. I recall a similar story last month and the pork was from Germany and Poland. Totally agree - how they can buy and transport pork from the EU and undercut local prices.
  20. Streuth! Stone the flamin' crows! She must be a flamin' galah!
  21. As malathione suggests - I believe its the battery in your remote. Ive seen on other forums that UID means Unique identification.
  22. I have see a few people sell job lots of tools on facebook marketplace and on Craigslist. Just make a few lots of similar items and take a few photos. Sell for best offer. Something like the biscuit jointer might be quite valuable and worth listing separately. The items you mention typically sell well.
  23. CW. My non o extension is based on family (Thai Child) - not marriage. In this case a kid changes quite a bit in a year so they can easily tell old photos. Actually for my first extension my daughter was at pre school - and its name in thai was really long and so therefore was the sign. It was near on impossible to take the photo and get everything in focus. I think on that occasion we went back maybe 3 times with them complaining on each occasion. in the end i had to edit it in PS to get it to pass muster. A copy of the letter from your child’s school confirming their enrolment A clear colour photograph of the father and child together at the school with the name of the school is clearly visible A photo of the school name Three pictures taken within the school grounds, for example, in a classroom, of the playing fields and any dining rooms/canteen
  24. I had all new photos for my family extension except the one with me and my daughter in front of the school sign. Thought id get away with just using last years and save me a trip to the school. They picked up on it and made me return next day with a new one. Actually twice. When i returned the next day with the new photo - she claimed that she couldn't read the schools name as i was standing slightly in front of the first letter. Bear in mind we also supply a letter from the schools headteacher confirming attendance at said school.
