  1. Does anybody know how things are in San Kamphaeng area?

    Greetings...K.W.

SK is on the Kuang River, currently rising & above flood level for about the 4th time this year. Not sure if there's any flooding in residential areas. I suspect the river is high to relieve the Mae Kuang dam at Doi Saket. We're about 4km south of SK & 1km east of the river, on the flood plain. The river is still within its banks near us.

  2. I guess this is why I got stuck on the Middle Ring this morning... :

Can someone confirm if the Outer Ring is completely clear on the South side? There was a major traffic jam this morning, but don't know if that was due to water near the old Lamphun road, or just because too many cars took that road.

Clear at about 1 pm, but getting thru the lights at Lamphun rd horrendous :(

  3. Siam TV currently selling Samsung 40" Full HD 551 Series LCD for around 14,800 baht. Plays movies straight off USB stick. 4 hdmi inputs, 2 USB. Bought one today. Very nice picture. SD downloads from theBox.bz look great. HD downloads look spectacular, IMHO :). I think the offer ends on October 2nd.

  4. been so long since anyone sold a house here.... who knows?

It's as cheap to build a brand new one who is what most people seem to do...

Can have mine if you like . . . I;m offering 50% discount on 14 million. It's not worth 14 mill though, but I'm prepared to keep putting the price up till it is.

OK that's a facet of house selling mentality over here :jap::0

    David

Too true!! My neighbour's is for sale. Built about the same time as mine, out in the sticks. Reckon he's asking 100% mark up on 2005 build price :whistling:

And, surprise, surprise, no one's been to view in 6 months it's been on the market ;)

    And he's a foreigner......

  5. ive never really had any proplem parking in c/m suppose if youve lived here long enough you have sussed out the best parking spots.

Finally, someone who agrees with me! :)

I imagine the silent majority who can't be bothered to post agree with you. Always somewhere to park close to where you want to go. Might have to walk a couple of minutes. Big deal.

  6. The only problem with transits in India (on Kingfisher, Jet or Indian) is that I understand you need a transit visa, so added costs and hassles.

    CMMCB

A second problem is that you have to set foot in a Indian airport :bah:

    And LHR :o

  7. You can get the flu vaccine at Dr. Morgan's Hang Dong Clinic. Do a search on this forum for Health Care Medical Clinic or simply Dr. Morgan...wait here it is listed on her website...590 Baht.

Does she run an appointment system or can you just turn up during opening hours?

I believe that you can turn up in the afternoons but that she has scheduled appointments in the mornings.

appointments in the afternoon too. Best to make an appointment. Sometimes busy, sometimes not.

  8. These pics taken at Mae Ngat Dam a few weeks ago. I can't imagine the dam manager letting water out needlessly when it's no where close to being full.

As I understood the dam is not build to get full with water, the walls cannot take the water pressure, so they could release water even if not full.

If you look at the 2nd photo, the water level is well below the spillway. The first photo shows water level gauges, indicating the water can reach a lot higher.

  9. That they're doing the job under pressure, and with poor working conditions, makes it all the more impressive.

You've hit the nail on the head there. The problem is, there's just too many of us here in Chiang Mai. 8 to 10 yrs ago you'd never see so many foreigners at a visit to immigration. They need to expand to accommodate us. The appointment system will help, but they need a bigger building & more staff.

  10. I have the same problem, so I was going to make my own ladder from bamboo, like the utility workers use. Helps if you have access to a stand of bamboo, but if not, it must be available somewhere.

Bamboo ladders flex quite a lot as you climb them. Not for the faint hearted.

    I know, I've used a 7m one

  11. Will check Gardenia at Global, both good names.

The gardenia I mentioned is a push mower, no motor. I thought that was what you meant by quiet. Anyway Global House stock petrol mowers. In the Chiang Mai branch, they have a very nice looking Daye petrol mower with Briggs & Stratton engine, rear catcher or side output option, good sized wheels. Under 16,000bt. Worth a look.

  12. Beer Laos' niche is more being a palatable beer from an exotic land than anything else. No particular reason to think that it's an organic product.

I don't mean for it to be organic, just free of chemicals or additives or other toxic substances. I doubt many or any beers in england are organic. It would just be nice to find a bottled beer here that is only brewed with natural ingredients. Just like many beers in britain or germany or belgium.

Federbrau brewed by Chang and is claimed to be brewed naturally under the German Brewing laws.
