  1. Do you want this for a longer period up to a year e.g.? There have been some threads about SIM cards for internet speeds like 30 Mbit/s without(!) throttling. Cost about 1600 to 2000 Baht/year. Other offers are high speed 100 Mbit/s but with throttling after like 100 or 60 GB/month. Many other variants available. Usually to be ordered online. SIM routers or "pocket WiFi" are easily available at shops (Tukcom e.g.). Pocket WiFi is compact battery powered so you can take it with you. A bit out of fashion.
  2. Don't you think this obvious error hasn't been discussed enough? Who made up? Ever thought about Thai news writers and their problem with numbers/magnitudes etc.? Little translation hickup? Oil trucks with thousands of tons and the like?
  3. Indians Indians Indians... Busloads arriving in Pattaya and they are everywhere Russians are strong in Phuket with nonstop flights. But also surprisingly many arrivals from China. Mates from Germany sat in packed planes at last weekend. Yesterday I had my first Chinese group experience since years in a 7/11 in Pattaya ????
  4. More plausible: "During this time there are up to 3,000 passengers arriving at the airport per hour. " More like 25 flights in an hour?
  5. And these avarage numbers seem to bring the airport at its limit? Or why are domestic(!) flights delayed up to more than two hours! Is it just the incompetence of this Thai* airline serving from Suvarnabhumi? ????
  6. Sounds like things have eased: "Thai citizens can enter neighboring Laos without a visa for up to 30 days. " https://www.visalaos.com/visa-requirements/thai-citizens/
  7. Maybe someone is up-to-date with the rules for Thai people using passport or ID card (with some 3? day pass)? All I know is that procedures for passport are different from using ID card. For a weekend and refraining to Vientiane the ID card might suffice.
  8. But Bangkok not worth for Biden. Will be in Cambodia for some reason (see news post).
  9. I want ice gel packs to transport some food stuff in the suitcase on a domestic trip. Anyone has an idea where to look for in Pattaya?
  10. Could come close to the mentioned 20%. Don't want to get bashed for comparing with other countries (price in Thailand equals about 13 Euro Cent per unit).
  11. One simple fact is the "38" that you have cited. Baht weakened against the Dollar which still is the reference for energy prices. Globally: have you noticed the terrible energy crisis in Germany which buys LNG for about any price? LNG is an important factor for Thai energy prices. And as mentioned above: energy prices in Thailand are not a free unregulated market. Subsidies on one side, extra tax on the other. Gasoline consumers paying for the diesel subsidies (part of).
  12. It never hurts to have sufficient funds ????
  13. No problem. What makes the event exceptionally rare is that it falls on Loy Krathong. https://aseannow.com/topic/1276941-total-lunar-eclipse-on-loy-krathong-night-on-november-8th/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1276566-lunar-eclipse-will-occur-on-loy-krathong-night-in-thailand/
  14. What's the exact date? Asking because you are at the 3 year limit.
  15. Correct, but do we need a third thread about it ???? One started a few days ago. One today. In the news. And if the sky is cloudy like in Pattaya yesterday it will be a poor event. Today also mixed clouds.
  16. After the usual Isaan bashing in another running thread now some Pattaya bashing? No not from me. I go there for a week or so. Currently sitting at a pool in Pattaya. See old mates. Enjoy the change. All easy, short rides on the bike. But I wouldn't want to live there permanently. In a high rise 30 sqm condo. No thanks. On the other hand it is an ideal spot for older singles who rarely speak a word of Thai and don't want or can't adopt their lifestyle. An old age friend was in Bangkok today for a new passport. Easy trip. For me quite an expedition. He also denies any adoption. No rice, no seafood, needs his schnitzel. Angry when a 7/11 clerk doesn't understand "ketchup!!!" ????
  17. I remember a particularly terrible November when many beach side businesses were hard hit with damages. Since then the "don't go Samui in November" always in my mind.
  18. Once heard an agent in Pattaya talking to a customer: all I need is your passport and "the money" (his fee) being >25k<. They do open a Bangkok Bank account with the customer and miraculously meet financial requirements. 45k for what?? I never needed one.
  19. Never paid that much for a one-way from Suvarnabhumi to Khon Kaen in 11 years. The flight TO Suvarnabhumi: rescheduled to a later time three days ahead. Another reschedule 3 hours! before rescheduled time. Still late to this 2nd reschedule. Heaven thanks I didn't have a connecting flight. My trust in Thaismile suffered a lot.
  20. Just wondered where my post about times is ???? It's in the first thread about the event.
  21. Watch sundown to the west and then turn around and watch the "dark" moon rise. Pray for clear sky .
  22. For me your story goes like: Why easy when you can do it complicated? Person has internet access? Tell him to call you on video with whatever messenger available. Just had such an experience. An offer too good to be true. Texting on LINE messenger. I asked for a video call. One lame excuse (I am eating...) and then dead and forgotten. No more response.
  23. More staff in a supposedly low price guesthouse? Easy said. Better think about investing in some security. Simple things like a locked compartment at reception. Of course an open desk should not be left alone.
  24. Dirty and spoiled in a few days. Drove this morning up to Soi 16 and saw same dirt smeared painting. At our village school they did a lot painting on the pavement (some alphabet stuff, math tables, Thai/English etc). After a few months almost completely worn out, unreadable
