Same here since years. It seems so much dependent on currency sent and receiving bank. I always send EUR "for longtime stay" to Bangkok Bank and the money comes next working day (if initiated after 9 AM or so). NEVER received money on a Saturday or Sunday this way. Often check Friday evening exchange rate and decide to send. Money arrives Monday 14:xxh. On the other hand I did two transfers to Kasikorn for "personal expense" and arrived in seconds. I don't bother. What can make you nervous/angry? Send EUR to EUR in SEPA payment area and wait for a day or two. Archaic. From October on all German banks will be obliged to offer free instant transfer. If you depend heavily on instant overseas transfer you need to find another service.
