Australian Arrested at Bangkok Airport Over Pattaya Murder

Police have arrested a 46-year-old Australian man at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he attempted to flee Thailand, in connection with the disappearance and murder of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found on 27 June 2026, inside a suitcase abandoned beside railway tracks in Pattaya.

The suspect, identified publicly by Thai police as Mr. Simon Peter Carman, was detained while attempting to buy a ticket to return to Australia. He has denied any involvement in the killing and maintains he is innocent despite what police describe as strong CCTV evidence. He currently faces a charge of abducting a minor under the age of 18 for indecent purposes.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by Pattaya City Police and Nong Prue Police, who traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage collected along his suspected escape route.

According to investigators, the victim, Miss T, 17, from Kalasin province, disappeared after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at 3.34am on June 25. CCTV footage showed the pair holding hands as they entered the building and went to Room 20 on the 15th floor. Police say the teenager was never seen leaving the condominium alive.

Further CCTV footage recorded at around 9.34pm the same day allegedly showed Carman dragging a large black suitcase from the building. He loaded it onto a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle bearing Prachuap Khiri Khan registration. Police later used CCTV tracking him riding along Sukhumvit Road towards Soi Chaiyapruk 2 and then onto a road running parallel to the railway tracks.

Investigators said the suspect disappeared from CCTV coverage for more than nine minutes before returning to the condominium on the same motorcycle without the suitcase. Police believe the victim’s body was disposed of during that period.

A body concealed inside a black suitcase was later discovered beside railway tracks behind Pattaya Floating Market in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Police from Pattaya and Nong Prue coordinated efforts under senior officers, analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and locate the suspect.

Officers tracked Carman to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was arrested before boarding a flight. Authorities are continuing to question him while forensic specialists gather additional evidence to support the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine forensic evidence and complete the case file for legal proceedings.

You guys discuss it here? 17 year old with a 45 year old truck driver ?

And Are they wrong?

As a man myself, I have seen many disgraceful Western men in Thailand with low morals and low standards, who are to blaim for their behaviour, no secret there

She looks 25 with all the tattoos, 95% of men here see women a lot younger.

We can all find rules and regulations.

Would you like a list of those not followed in Thailand?

Nearly all of them.

The only list as regards here is a list of rules not followed and then someone ends up dead.

It's irrelevant, he was raised in Australia, he worked in Australia, his pensions are in Aussie.

  1. This article says he's British born, no point questioning nationality, pointless arguing.

  2. You don't even have to be an Australian citizen to receive Centrelink benefits. Stupid government gives out money willy nilly.

This is an excellent post, of which I have only reposted a snippet.

Those posters stating that the age of consent in Thailand is 15 and that is the end of the story are posting a significant misrepresentation of the facts. First and foremost, because in most Western countries, people can consent to sex having reached the age of consent. That is not the case here. Parental (or guardian) consent or approval is required up to 18. Other authorities may intervene.

A work colleague of mine had a 17-year-old Thai girlfriend, a consensual relationship. He was 25. Following a complaint to the police from the girl's mother, who simply disapproved of the relationship, he spent 6 months in prison.

For prostitution the aged are well beyond 17.

The press are clamouring to be the first with the latest details, as are some posters here !!.

This from The Daily Mail Australia:

“ Carman had been living for eight months in the Rimhad Jomtien Condominium complex, popular with foreigners chasing a quieter life, where he worked as a handyman and kept a low profile.“

Another “ source “ claims he worked at Laks bar and had been renovating several apartments.

Just seems like a lot of guessing and Chinese whispers going on.

How can he work as a handyman?

Police in Australia should look into this guy's history. He may be linked to some missing persons and / or murders. Think truck driver, hitch hikers, sex workers etc.

Wow, this is truly chilling:

Chilling details emerge of two more bodies found in suitcases in Thai tourist hotspot where an Australian truckie was arrested and charged with the murder of teenage girl

Daily Mail can now reveal Ms Donhomla's death marks the third time in less than two years that the body of a woman has been discovered concealed inside luggage in Pattaya, adding another chilling chapter to the city's dark criminal history.

The two earlier murders remain unsolved and the similarities between the cases were so striking that Thai authorities are investigating whether they could be linked.

It is not suggested that Carman was in any responsible for the earlier two murders, only that Thai authorities are investigating whether they could be linked to the death of Ms Donhomia.

The most recent of the two cold cases unfolded in September 2025, when the bound body of a woman believed to be in her early 30s was discovered inside a suitcase floating in a Pattaya reservoir.

The luggage, secured with heavy chains, padlocks and cable ties, was spotted by a member of Thailand's national rowing team while training nearby.

Inside, police found the half-naked body of a woman curled into the suitcase, but her identity and nationality remain unknown.

Investigators believe she was a foreign national with fair skin who had undergone extensive cosmetic surgery, including breast implants bearing Chinese markings, along with procedures to her nose and chin.

No match was found in Thailand's fingerprint database and detectives believe she died from asphyxiation.

The suitcase had been weighed down with dumbbell weights - an eerie detail that echoed another horrifying discovery just eight months earlier in neighbouring Rayong province.

In February 2025, a local fisherman alerted police after his line snagged a suitcase floating near a golf course in Ban Chang, just 14km from the tourist hot spot.

Officers opened the locked luggage to find the naked body of a woman in a state of decomposition.

Like the Pattaya case, the suitcase had been deliberately weighted with two 10kg dumbbells in an apparent attempt to stop it resurfacing. Neither victim has been identified and both murder investigations remain unsolved.

This man in question was a spur of the moment and ill planned.

You have completely misunderstood what I said and placed a construction that was not stated.

This may be because English is not your first language.

The thrust of my post was not to apply the Western meaning of 'age of consent' on to Thai legislation which is very different, particularly in relation to parental or guardian involvement. If you managed to understand from my post that "17 is not underage", then you have totally failed to understand what I was saying. I was saying the complete opposite.

Also at no point did I mention or refer to or even allude to prostitution. I have no idea why you introduced that to my post.

Honestly, I do not believe these guys are looking for a 25-year-old. Saying a 17-year-old looks 25 sounds more like an excuse, or maybe you have just been in that environment for too long.

Security did not wave them through on that occasion. The service was there if the occupant wanted it. He could have approached the security desk and the ID would have been logged. You could see the security guard take note of their entry, deciding to not disturb them. It was the perpetrator's choice to not register her at the desk.

Or you could argue that it was the securities job to ensure control of the residence.. therefore checking all guests as they came in.

Those video snips of both walking away holding hands . It's a gut wrenching reminder of how easily innocence can be used against someone, the moment of innocents, leading to heinous violence in a short period of time.
