Australian Arrested at Bangkok Airport Over Pattaya Murder

Police have arrested a 46-year-old Australian man at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he attempted to flee Thailand, in connection with the disappearance and murder of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found on 27 June 2026, inside a suitcase abandoned beside railway tracks in Pattaya.

The suspect, identified publicly by Thai police as Mr. Simon Peter Carman, was detained while attempting to buy a ticket to return to Australia. He has denied any involvement in the killing and maintains he is innocent despite what police describe as strong CCTV evidence. He currently faces a charge of abducting a minor under the age of 18 for indecent purposes.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by Pattaya City Police and Nong Prue Police, who traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage collected along his suspected escape route.

According to investigators, the victim, Miss T, 17, from Kalasin province, disappeared after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at 3.34am on June 25. CCTV footage showed the pair holding hands as they entered the building and went to Room 20 on the 15th floor. Police say the teenager was never seen leaving the condominium alive.

Further CCTV footage recorded at around 9.34pm the same day allegedly showed Carman dragging a large black suitcase from the building. He loaded it onto a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle bearing Prachuap Khiri Khan registration. Police later used CCTV tracking him riding along Sukhumvit Road towards Soi Chaiyapruk 2 and then onto a road running parallel to the railway tracks.

Investigators said the suspect disappeared from CCTV coverage for more than nine minutes before returning to the condominium on the same motorcycle without the suitcase. Police believe the victim’s body was disposed of during that period.

A body concealed inside a black suitcase was later discovered beside railway tracks behind Pattaya Floating Market in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Police from Pattaya and Nong Prue coordinated efforts under senior officers, analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and locate the suspect.

Officers tracked Carman to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was arrested before boarding a flight. Authorities are continuing to question him while forensic specialists gather additional evidence to support the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine forensic evidence and complete the case file for legal proceedings.

Mr Carman was found with scratches on his neck and arms, which officers believe are consistent with defensive wounds.

From the various photos published in this thread, I can't see any scratches on his neck and arms.

Perhaps another member/s can assist.

The report of the scratches are reported by police, do you think they are lying.

Images showing her in the suitcase are also not published, so do you think that information is wrong also?

The information is correct.

Not being British I won't try to defend this murderer purely because we hold the same passport. Although not yet confirmed in a court of law, the evidence of his guilt appears overwhelming.

On appearance alone I wouldn't describe him as a bogan. He seems well groomed and just another dumb everyman. people have stated he has a long-term visa; I would be surprised if he was anything other than a visitor.

A question - what exactly happening in the room? Apparently, both have injuries suggesting a fight. The theory about a payment dispute may be correct.

Also, what's with a tattooed 17yo working in the game? Did he know her age? Too dumb to check ID? I confess I have trouble picking age with Thais (no, never slept with one close to that age). Was she from the streets or a bar? If the latter, who was selling her, and are they being investigated?

No, just as all the English are chav soccer hooligans waiting for a chance to whip their shirt off and start a street brawl.

Just a note for those who think underage girls are not working the scene. Or that you've never taken one home.

This guy's gone in a Thai prison.

You've said this twice now. How does he not look like a murderer ?Murderers are everyday people. They just happen to kill other people

True, and many serial killers get away with it so long because they blend in with the population, some with nice features that disarms the women until they have them trapped, Ted Bundy coming to mind. Some of the roughest looking biker types I've known have been family men, who treat everyone with respect including their women and children. There is no definite "look" as far as murderers are concerned.

True, as many have a sleuth mindset. People go by their own experiences when they put forth suggestions as to the why and hows of crimes, and some are right on, while others are just reaching. Nothing wrong unless they are using prejudice as a diagnosis.

I had read that as well, but I can't find the story again. I think I know which site originally reported it that way, but they've since removed those details.

UPDATE

Australian Suspect Admits Dumping Teen’s Body

image.png

Australian national Simon Peter Carman, 46, has apologised to the family of the 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found inside a suitcase near railway tracks in Pattaya, while speaking to the media following his arrest. Carman claimed he had never met the teenager before and said they first encountered each other near his condominium, where they allegedly agreed on a payment of 1,000 baht for her time. He alleged that after taking her to his room, she told him she was menstruating, prompting him to offer only 500 baht, which led to an argument.

Carman claimed the teenager then threatened him with a knife and demanded more money. He said he grabbed her by the neck in self-defence, insisting he had no intention of killing her. He admitted placing her body inside a suitcase, transporting it by motorcycle and abandoning it in woodland beside railway tracks before returning to his accommodation to collect his belongings and travelling to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he intended to fly back to Australia. He also said he was willing to allow forensic officers to examine his belongings and carry out a full medical examination.

Police investigators from Pattaya City Police Station, assisted by Chonburi Immigration Police, arrested Carman at Suvarnabhumi Airport before he could leave Thailand and returned him to Pattaya for legal proceedings. Investigators stressed that all of Carman’s statements remain claims that have not been verified. Police said the case will be determined by forensic evidence, post-mortem findings and physical evidence recovered from the condominium as the investigation continues.

Yeah, right... funny. So, he was worried that a 17 year-old girl was going to wipe the floor with him and give him a thrashing or worse... complete load of manure. If that were true, then someone his size would just pick her up by her ears/give her a slap and then toss her into the corridor and shut the door... no need to go all Dexter on her.

Presumably they will find the knife. The 1000 baht 500 baht story is plausible and not unusual

So the entire argument stemmed because she wanted to leave and asked for 500 baht for her expenses.

Unbelievable.

And that has got the poor girl killed following an argument about this.

Unbelievable yes, also it's not what the report says. It was the cheap b'stard that claims he reduced his offer, no mention of what he expected in return.

Life, as he knew it, is now over. He has very little to look forward to other than a Thai prison cell that he will share with many others. May the victim RIP and the family of the victim get the justice that they deserve.

If what he said was true, and that is possibly lies too, then why didn't he tell her to just give him a BJ if she was menstrating and give her 500 baht for it. Seems stupid to risk everything for such a low amount of money, would have been better to even just give her the money to get rid of the problem and move on chalking it up to experience. Doesn't pass the smell test to me.
