Two Bangkok office workers have asked the Sai Mai Tong Rod page for help after alleging that a Norwegian man assaulted them, damaged a mobile phone and threatened to kill them near the Bang Na intersection Skywalk.
The complaint was filed on 2 August at the page's coordination centre in Sai Mai district. The alleged assault happened at about 8.30am on 1 August on Sanphawut Road, Bang Na Tai, Bang Na district.
The two complainants, identified only as 29-year-old Ton and 28-year-old Y, said they had never met or had any dispute with the foreign man before the incident.
Phone kicked from victim's hand
Ton said he has used the Skywalk pedestrian route to travel to work each morning for the past three years. On the day of the incident, he said he was walking while using his phone when he heard a foreign man shouting behind him.
He said he continued walking, but the man then kicked him hard in the right arm, causing his phone to fall near the alleged attacker's feet.
According to Ton, the man picked up the phone, removed its case and threw it forcefully to the ground. The screen was cracked, although the device could still be switched on.
Ton said the man then went on to confront other people nearby. He described the man's behaviour as resembling someone who was mentally unwell or affected by an unidentified substance, rather than drunk on alcohol.
After seeking help on the road, Ton met his friend Y, who approached the man, along the road, to ask why he had attacked Ton.
Alleged death threat and chase
Y said the man replied that he was out running for exercise and said that, if he had truly intended to harm them, he would have cut their throats with a knife. She said he also told her in English: "I will kill you."
When Y raised her phone to record video evidence, the man allegedly ran into her, knocking her to the ground. The pair fled, saying the foreign man chased them closely until they reached a group of motorcycle taxi riders.
They said the man stopped following them when he saw a larger group of people, crossed the road and then caused a disturbance at nearby shops.
Ton said he is now afraid to use the Skywalk, despite needing the route for work, and has temporarily been taking motorcycle taxis instead.

The complainants later identified the man only as Mr Erling, a Norwegian national, and submitted evidence while asking authorities to locate him and take legal action.
Ekkapop Luangprasert, founder of Sai Mai Tong Rod, said he had contacted the superintendent of Bang Na Police Station. He said investigators would be tasked with finding the man, while noting that legal procedure may require medical results.
Ekkapop said he was concerned that a foreign suspect could leave Thailand before the process was completed.
