Body found in Pattaya canal after Korean vanishes

A body believed to be that of a Korean man, missing after falling into a flooded canal in Pattaya has been found, three days after the incident.

Rescuers recovered the body from a canal in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, at 6.05pm on 27 September 2026. Formal identification is still pending.

Body spotted near power plant

The body was discovered beside a electrical power plant in Soi Siam Country Club, Nong Prue. The location is near a banana plantation and a heavily overgrown section of canal.

Police from Nong Prue, tourist police, immigration officers, local administration officials and a duty doctor from Pattaya Pathamakun Hospital attended the scene after the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Centre received a report from a member of the public.

Rescuers found the body face down in the middle of the waterway, caught among grass. It was in a state of decomposition and gave off a strong smell.

Officials said the clothing appeared similar to that worn by a Korean man who fell near the bridge approach at Khlong Ta Yai in Soi Noen Plub Wan, Nong Prue, during the early hours of 24 September.

Fisherman raised the alarm

The man who found the body, 25-year-old fisherman Oliver, said he had been looking for a place to fish when he saw what appeared to be a person lying face down in the canal.

He said he believed it could be the Korean man who had been swept away three days earlier, and contacted the authorities.

The earlier incident involved three foreign men walking through floodwater when the accident happened. One was carried away by the current and disappeared, while the other two survived and left the area on foot.

Identity checks now under way

Investigators from Nong Prue police station documented the scene before rescue workers transferred the body for a post-mortem examination and identity verification.

Police, tourist police and Chonburi immigration officers will determine whether the deceased is the Korean man reported missing from the canal. They will also seek to establish his identity before contacting relatives so they can collect the body for religious rites.

The investigation to locate the other two Koreans remains ongoing.
