Body of Singer found in Chao Phraya

The body of former Dragon 5 boy band member Thaman "Tae" Taepun, 46, has been found floating in the Chao Phraya River beneath Rama VII Bridge.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration disaster prevention and mitigation officers recovered the body and brought it to the pier beneath the bridge. Forensic doctors and officers from Prachachuen police station examined the scene.

The discovery came a day after online appeals were shared widely seeking help to locate Mr Thaman, also known as Tae Dragon 5, after he left home on an early-morning cycle ride and did not return.

Examination at the scene found him wearing cycling attire. He was still wearing a black backpack. Inside the backpack was a heavy cement block. There were no wounds on the body. It is estimated that death occurred at least 12 hours ago.

Missing report filed in Bang Kruai

Mr Thaman's girlfriend, Walaiphan Srinaphaphan, 42, reported him missing at Bang Kruai police station in Nonthaburi at 6.30pm on August 6.

She told officers that he had left their home at about 4am that day on a cream-coloured bicycle, wearing cycling clothes and carrying a backpack. He was not wearing a helmet and had left without his wallet or mobile phone.

Mr Thaman was heading towards the Bang Kruai electricity authority, with reports saying he was last seen turning right towards the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand office on Rama VII Road.

Ms Walaiphan said leaving without his phone was unusual. She said he normally always carried it while cycling, returned home immediately after his ride and had never disappeared in this way before.

After being unable to reach him and finding that close friends had no information, she sought police assistance, fearing he may have come to harm. The ข่าวคนนนท์ facebook page had earlier asked anyone with information to contact the page or Mr Thaman's family.

Mr Thaman was known to Thai pop fans as a member of Dragon 5, a boy band active during the 2000s.
