Bus Overturns on a Phetchaburi Road, Injuring 28

Police received a report of the crash at 03:35. The crash occurred on the inbound side of Phetkasem Road at kilometre marker 129+900, opposite Sophon Crane, in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi province.

Authorities found the air-conditioned bus overturned after the driver reportedly lost control, struck the central reservation and flipped onto its side. The vehicle was operating a scheduled service between Surat Thani and Bangkok.

There were 31 people on board, including passengers and bus staff. Initial inspections found that 23 people suffered minor injuries, while five sustained moderate injuries. Three people escaped unharmed. No fatalities were reported.

Emergency responders from Sawang Sanphet Rescue Foundation, together with medical teams from Khao Yoi Hospital, attended the scene and provided immediate assistance. Injured passengers were treated at the roadside before being transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Police officers from Khao Yoi Police Station managed traffic around the crash site and began an investigation into the cause of the accident. Authorities have not yet confirmed what led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The crash adds to ongoing concerns over road safety on long-distance routes, particularly during overnight and early-morning journeys when fatigue can be a contributing factor. However, investigators have not released any findings and are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Amarin reported that officials are to review evidence from the scene and gather statements from those involved as part of their inquiry. The condition of the bus and other contributing factors will also be examined before any conclusions are reached.

Uncountable accidents are happening day after day, and nothing really nothing is been done to reduce them. Everybody normal thinking human being knows that the time between 3 am and 5 am is the time that the most accidents happen because of tiredness,, How easy can things be solved not only for busses but also for trucks.. Ban them from the road between 1 am and 5 am. Only for their own safety. I know many complaints i will receive as people think it is better to travel at night for all kind of reasons, but nobody cares about the dangerous for the drivers and the people they are transporting or the freight they carry. Changing behaviors, as many things that should change in Thailand, to make roads safer for everyone

Time to fit and vigorously enforce tacographs on all buses and heavy vehicles for everyone's benefit.

Remember when they were going to ban the double decker buses?

Fortunately, the minor injuries suggest that passengers were wearing the seatbelts.

Unless there was really mechanical failure, the driver fell asleep. Very hard to regain control of such a big vehicle.

I disagree with the OP. Siplor and other big trucks including dump trucks and heavy equipment trucks should be banned from 5am to 10pm.

I worked night shift, why can't other workers. Of course, this wouldn't 'cure' traffic jams but it would sure help with the pollution these trucks generate.

Left hand lanes for buses ONLY with fines to make that reality.

So what kind of license do you need to drive a bus in Thailand? Same as a car with zero training? What about an air brake ticket? Well at least he didn't run. Life is cheap here.

Guess it was the brake failure... as usual, instead of incomptetent driver. The report doesn't even say if the drive remained at the crash site... bet he fled like the pile of manure he is.

Not that long ago there would have been an image of empty M150 bottles and perhaps a mickey of whiskey with the caption "and the driver fled the scene".

The driver probably nodded off, snapped to and over corrected on the steering. An old guy I knew did that, rolled the car, and killed his wife of 60 years. Thankfully this driver got off easy.

Can you back up that "statistic" with something empirical? I would very much doubt that it was an accurate statement.

New ones are banned, in order to phase them out it's not possible to register new double-deckers but existing ones are allowed to operate.

That there is no report that he fled the scene - there certainly would have been if he'd legged it - it's fair to assume that he remained there and that he isn't the pile of shi t that you claim him to be.
