Foreign Tourist Flees After Jomtien Shop Clash

A foreign tourist fled after a confrontation with convenience store staff and bystanders outside a 7/11 store on Jomtien Beach Road, following allegations that he stole drinks from the store.

Video clips shared widely on social media showed a chaotic scene outside the convenience store. The footage, posted alongside claims that the foreign man had “stolen goods and refused to pay”, captured the tourist arguing with staff before attempting to leave the area on a motorcycle.

According to reports, the man had arrived at the shop with his girlfriend before staff accused the pair of stealing two bottles of energy drink. Employees reportedly stopped them before they left the store and attempted to discuss payment of a store fine, but the tourists allegedly refused and tried to walk away.

The dispute escalated in the car park outside the shop when a man wearing a black shirt and other Thai bystanders joined staff in attempting to stop the tourist from leaving. Video footage showed pushing, pulling and physical scuffling as the tourist tried to ride away on his motorcycle.

During the struggle, the tourist’s bag was reportedly torn and damaged. The man and his girlfriend then took advantage of the confusion to run from the scene, leaving behind the motorcycle and a pair of shoes outside the store.

Journalists later visited the convenience store, but staff declined requests for interviews or permission to film inside the premises. No additional official statement was issued by the business.

The incident has triggered widespread criticism online, with social media users questioning why members of the public tried to physically restrained the suspect instead of contacting police to handle the matter through legal procedures. Concerns were also raised about the level of force used during the confrontation in a public area.

Police at Pattaya City Police Station are reviewing video footage and witness accounts as part of an investigation into the incident. Authorities said no complaint had yet been filed by the foreign tourists involved.

Investigators are expected to determine whether any offences were committed by either side during the confrontation and whether further legal action will follow.

The video footage of the guy in the 7/11 with the Irish accent does not show him insulting the staff. A Thai is heard saying "<deleted> you ".

After defending himself against the cowardly Thai thugs he says to the farang byestander they are hitting me for nothing. That accent is clearly Irish.

Where is this footage you speak of? So he was in 7/11 asking for direction and wishing everyone a good day?

And why are the thais cowardly?

Ya, the thais were just sitting outside waiting for a quiet innocent white guy so they could beat him up for no good reason! Damn them 😁

Victim playing at it's greatest...some people just don't get it...ok I'll play your little game.

  1. He should not of left the shop to start with..first wrong decision

  2. When people are asking you to not leave for a reason, you should listen rather than trying to flee on your bike. 2nd wrong decision

  3. He should of returned to the shop to sort the problem out but didn't...3rd wrong decision

  4. Every action has a reaction, remember that

Thats what you think he should have done, but how should he have reacted when the four Thai guys started hitting him ?

The footage is in the opening post.

The Thais are cowards for ganging up 4 against 1.

Nobody said he was quiet and the video footage does not show whether he was or was not.

There are many younger Thais who are ready to attack a farang for the slightest reason.

I've watched this twice. I believe he had paid the money, whether he hadn't prior though is another thing. Quite likely got caught and coughed up.

His attitude in the shop was clearly disrespectful in the least.

One of the Thais, 7/11 staff standing it appears, can be heard saying 'Jai laew loh'? meaning....... paid right? and noone is heard replying, indicating he has by the fact noone interjects to the contrary.

The Thai kids were circling outside waiting for an excuse.

He did well to escape and smart move to leave his bike and exit fast.

He is from England and sounds like he has a mild Birmingham/Midlands regional accent.

Any excuse to jump in with the pack to beat up a foreigner, if he did steal he deserves it, but there’s no proof,

Are you here for the 5 minute or hour long argument

I'm not here for any arguments, I never have arguments here, I do, however, post comments which reflect events accurately as opposed to so many AN posters who just fabricate nonsense and then accuse anyone who disagrees with them, or expresses a different opinion, of 'arguing'.

What they fail to recognise, of course, is that their expressing a different opinion to mine, according to their own logic, must also be 'arguing' but it's ok for you to do that, eh?!

Thanks for the argument of your own fabricated opinion and logic, given that without those tools you’d have nothing to say.

the video he says to the innocent bystander "I paid the money" - CCTV should show who's lying or telling the truth

If you read the article they paid for the drinks but refused to pay the "store fine" also known as an extortion payment. That is when the argument started. There was also no evidence of them actually stealing anything, just accusations. It seems one has to be very careful entering a 7-11 with a drink bought elsewhere in your hand. Make sure you keep your receipts.

Call the police 🤣😂🤣 As if they would get there in time. Unfortunately many stores and businesses charge the staff for anything stolen or not paid for. Even when you send back food, in many places staff have to pay do it’s in their best interest to take action. Why do you see so many people chasing people who haven’t paid their bills? It’s sad that establishments in a foreign tourist zone get penalized for these acts that are not their fault. But it’s still out on whether the accused stole anything or not in this case. JMO

Oh you have never seen Thai guys beat up farangs for no good reason

I remember about 10 years ago a elderly farang man who stepped in to help an Indian boy being bashed was turned on by a Thai motorcycle driver , and farang was in his 70's punched him whilst on the ground because he had the audacity to step in between thai thugs and the indian boy

and...the strangest thing was the thai young thug wasn't even involved in the original argument between the Thai and Indian guy ,he was just nearby but gave him the excuse to punch this poor old man on the ground,I witnessed it

Also had a work colleagues Australian son stabbed to death for no reason in isaan about 15 years ago driving on his motorcycle by a young Thai thug

I guess that’s where cctv comes in handy.

My daughter had a minor traffic bump outside a 7:11 and their cctv was very handy in proving that she had indicated properly.
