Thai Airways cancels flights on key routes

Thai Airways has announced further flight cancellations across domestic and international routes between 30 September and 1 October 2026.

The airline's detailed route list covers 32 services scheduled for 30 September and 1 October, including flights between Bangkok and major European, Asian and Thai destinations. The reason for the cancellations was the ongoing issues and effects after the Bangkok flooding.

Flights listed for September 30

The domestic flights listed for cancellation are Bangkok-Phuket TG201, TG205 and TG217; Bangkok-Chiang Mai TG102; Bangkok-Khon Kaen TG040; Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani TG020; and Bangkok-Udon Thani TG002.

International cancellations listed for 30 September are Bangkok-Munich TG924, Brussels TG934, Copenhagen TG950, Zurich TG970, Amsterdam TG936, London TG916, Hong Kong TG638, Frankfurt TG922 and Taipei TG632.

Also cancelled are Bangkok-Osaka TG622, Seoul TG656, Tokyo Narita TG642, Kuala Lumpur TG417, Singapore TG403 and TG407, New Delhi TG315, Mumbai TG317, Sydney TG475, Tokyo Haneda TG660, Manila TG620 and Hong Kong TG600.

The cancelled Bangkok-London TG916 service and flights to Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Amsterdam, Brussels and Copenhagen may be particularly relevant to expats travelling between Thailand and Europe, or those with onward connections booked from Bangkok.

Four European services cancelled on October 1

For 1 October, Thai Airways listed four international cancellations: Bangkok-Paris TG930, Bangkok-Brussels TG934, Bangkok-Milan TG940 and Bangkok-Stockholm TG960.

Passengers holding tickets for any of the affected services should check their booking directly with the airline before travelling to the airport. Those with connecting itineraries, including separately booked onward flights, may need to review their arrangements promptly.

The airline apologised for the inconvenience caused.

    The main reasons for Thai Air cancelling flights are as follows . Thai Air are sole management of all baggage handling at Suvarnabhumi airport . Airport baggage handlers are unable to get to the airport because of the floods which has caused much disruption . All other airlines pay for the baggage service . If delays are caused by slow baggage handling , Thai Air have to pay a penalty to the delayed airline . Rather than pay the financial penalty Thai Air have delayed or cancelled their own flights to minimize delays to other air lines . That will not go down well with Thai Air passengers

    No. Only a fool would interpret a temporary halt in flights because of the catastrophic flooding as a bankruptcy.

    Thai Airways is being a prudent and responsible airline. Airlines do cancel flights when there are catastrophic events such as hurricanes/cyclones, blizzards and flooding.

    Glad I gave up on Thai Airways years ago.

    EVA reporting no delays or baggage delivery issues. They do not use Thai Airways staff for off loading.

    Thai Air are not the sole management of all baggage at Suvanabhumi airport.

    Many other airlines provide passenger handling, load control, baggage handling and cargo handling supervision services at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi .

    What a sh!tshow this is. From the floods - to the airport. This was well-predicted by authorities 2 days before the floods happened and they warned the public/media - but then the authorities did nothing, until the floods happened. Then? The district offices offered sandbags to people waist deep in water. The PM stays in UK for his visit rather than coming straight back. The military/national guard didn't lift a finger until the worst of it had already happened. Then chaos at the airport that still hasn't been resolved - and won't be for another 3 days (at least). Some 13 billion baht in damages to hard working people. And the worst could be yet to come in October. I'm sure they'll be as unprepared as usual.

    EVA contracts with Bangkok Flight Services (BFS). The entity is owned by Bangkok Airways and Singapore based SATS Group. The ramp and baggage personnel will therefore be Bangkok Airways related personnel.

    The TG flights that were cancelled on the one day, had alternative options. EVA cannot afford to suspend operations because it has a limited schedule of service.

    All of the airlines are experiencing tarmac delays and baggage issues. This is not an issue specific to TG.

    Bangkok Airways has had similar flight and baggage delays at the same time as TG. Because the volume of business is much less than that of TG, the disruption is not as evident.

    EVA has a handful of flights into BKK and they are at off peak hours.

    BKK is congested on the best of days, but the heavy rain has forced closure of runways for short periods of time. Because TG is the largest carrier it is most likely to see delays.
