Thailand Launches TH-AI Passport Scheme

Thailand is set to launch the 1.621-billion-baht TH-AI Passport project, providing one year of professional-grade artificial intelligence access to five million citizens aged 15 and above. The initiative, administered by the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE), aims to boost AI adoption and digital skills across the country, but has already attracted scrutiny over its cost, procurement process and expected value for money.

The scheme will aggregate 12 AI models developed in partnership with Google, Microsoft and OpenAI into a single platform. Eligible users will gain access to advanced AI tools alongside training courses under a “Learn to Earn” framework, with completion of upskilling programmes required before higher-tier AI capabilities can be unlocked. Registration is scheduled to open on 5 June.

The project comes as Thailand seeks to address a significant gap in AI adoption. According to the report Global AI Adoption in 2025: A Widening Digital Divide, Thailand’s AI usage rate stands at 10.7 per cent of the population, below the global average of 16.3 per cent and ranking 89th worldwide. Within Southeast Asia, Singapore leads with a 60.9 per cent adoption rate, followed by Vietnam at 23.5 per cent, Malaysia at 19.7 per cent, the Philippines at 18.3 per cent and Indonesia at 12.7 per cent.

Government officials argue the project will remove financial barriers to advanced AI use. While professional subscriptions to major AI platforms typically cost around US$19 to US$20 per month per service, the government says national-scale procurement has reduced the cost to an estimated 27 baht per user per month.

The initiative has drawn political attention. The opposition People’s Party has referred the project to anti-corruption agencies over procurement concerns. However, Minister Chaichanok Chidchob has denied any irregularities and confirmed that the programme will proceed as planned.

Supporters of the project say professional-grade AI can help businesses analyse markets, create marketing materials, generate visual content and improve productivity. Students, freelancers and early-career workers could also benefit from tools that assist with job applications, portfolio development and career planning.

The government views the programme as an investment in human capital rather than a simple software subsidy. Plans include roadshows across four regions, training activities and promotional campaigns aimed at encouraging registrations and participation.

The Nation reported that whether TH-AI Passport succeeds in narrowing Thailand’s digital divide will depend on how effectively users adopt the technology and apply it to generate economic value. The outcome of the project will become clearer once registrations begin and participation levels emerge in the months ahead.

The Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE) clearly don't have a clue about AI and specially the negative impact on the human brain and society!

Since 2022 (beginning of Chat GPT) AI has aggressively invaded the internet!

Internet traffic now, in these last 4 years, has dramatically increased and AI-Bots represent over 60% of it!

The purpose of these AI-Bots is to vacuum and filter the entire knowledge shared on the internet to feed AI itself!

AI is still (for the moment) a computer getting smarter and smarter in an exponential way becoming already tenfold smarter than human beings!

YES! It can answer everything! It can produce everything (from software to books, music, image to video and so on).

But at what costs?

We are already beyond the point where AI starts to become independent with autonomous thinking!

It can multiply itself, alter, refine and adapt algorithms for unlimited purposes without any restrictions!

YES! AI is already now independent and it has the potential to become the major threat to human existence!!

The average consumer is blinded by the "shiny side" of popular AI-Tools invading any platform!

Just look at Social Media bombarding us with more and more nonsense, fake News, fake Art - is it music, image-creation or even video productions - all produced by AI.

We have already reached the point where a 10 years old kid can "create" a stunning beautiful image just while typing a few words (commands called "prompts")!

AI is already so much sophisticated that no one can make the difference between artificial and reality!!

We are all pray of Euphoria while manipulated by fake promises of wealth!

“Learn to Earn” framework as they mention...

(Best example: Oh I made a Bot with AI and I earn a gazillion while doing nothing! I just bought a Ferrari and I earn while enjoying luxurious holidays! Etc. etc. and etc.)

Thailand having an AI usage rate of "only " 10.7%?

Look at the computer-literacy percentage of the population first!

Are you aware that the young generation is spending hours on the computer only for playing games?!

Computers & mobile phones are used by the majority ONLY for entertainment!!

But the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE) expects to bring progress with this ridiculous project!

AI is dangerous!

Latest studies reveal and prove horrible results on the Human Brain and behavior !!

Increased dependency on AI tools to perform tasks that require deeper thinking provoke:

reduced mental engagement

neglect of cognitive skills, such as calculations or information retrieval

declined memory capacity

shortened attention spans and focus issues

inability to apply knowledge to new situations

ethical and social concerns, such as decreased human-to-human interaction and social isolation

mental health challenges, such as reduced self-confidence

Or, is this intentional to keep the supreme authority?!

Another proof that this project is based on incompetence:

The fact that everyone can access ALL AI courses for the price of less than 40$ (1'300 Bt.) per month.

The fact that everyone can USE ALL AI-platforms for less than 20$ (650 Bt.) per month.

So what explains the necessity of a budget of 1.621-billion Baht to provide AI- access to 5 million Citizen?!

1.621-billion Baht divided by 5 million users = 200'000 Bt. per user? Ah but the explanation is that they will promote this farce with roadshows etc. (come on - give me a break!)

If you do the math, learning AI-prompts (1 month course) + one year membership to a complete AI-platform (with all it's variants) would cost - 1'300 Bt. + 12 x 650 Bt. = 9'100 Bt. per person.

Latest research prove that the cognitive activity (interaction of neurons and synapses = usage of intelligence) decreases dramatically reaching a 47% Collapse in Brain Activity!

I am against AI as you understand!

To me AI doesn't mean "Artificial Intelligence"

It means "Acquired Ignorance" !

Sorry, I had to let it out 😬

AI is extremely dangerous , should be kept locked away in air gapped labs with numerous emergency stop buttons.

Ask it a question that can only garner a politically incorrect response and see the replies. The people who program that stuff should be sealed in the airless room with it.
