DPM says agencies unable to reform will be penalized

 

 

BANGKOK, 7th September 2017 (NNT) – The Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs reports the government is expediting its reform work in 11 areas, tasking relevant agencies with presenting plans in line with reform efforts and warning of penalties for non-compliance. 

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, in a speech to a mobile Rajabundit academic meeting entitled “The Direction of Thai Reforms”, stated that the Rajabundit Institution is an organization of philosophers and should play a role in matters concerning the nation.

 

He explained to them that the government is pursuing three main reforms: the 11 reform areas of the new constitution, science and sports, and religion and culture, adding that each agency of the state is legally obligated to contribute to the effort and that any personnel who fail to aid in the effort will be punished by being transferred. Severe cases may be forwarded to the National Anti-Corruption Commission for further vetting. 

He confirmed reform of agencies and government offices will also take place alongside the larger changes.

Gonna be a whole lot of penalties dished out in the next year or so....government agencies, government enterprises, you name it.....none of them want to be overseen!

3 years and counting. No reforms done yet. Corruption skyrocketing. Country division maybe got even worse. 

And I don't think penalties are going to change anything.

What a sick joke on the taxpayers of Thailand and a sad indictment of the Governments proclaimed meaningful reforms (and I use those words lightly). 

 

Those who do not 'reform' should be dismissed from public service! If the Government has not got the balls to do that then at least demote the non-reformists to the lowest rank, then transfer them to another department. DO NOT transfer them to the department of transferees, where they probably sit on their collective backsides do very little and still drawing down their salaries!

 

Draft them into the Army and send them to serve in southern Thailand for a period of at least five years! A pity Thailand does not have some salt mines

Fallow through is not a trait of this country.  The only time they seem to have fallow through is when they tighten immigration.  Otherwise many things just fall through the cracks.  Go forgotten and then not inforced.
