Nakhon Sawan man, 79, attacks wife, 85, with a hammer

NAKHON SAWAN: -- Police rushed to a house in Nakhon Sawan after an old man hit his wife over the head with a hammer.

 

The couple's daughter, aged 50, had responded to her mother's cries in the hall and said she saw her father, named only as "Neung" hitting her mother two or three times.

 

She ran out and alerted police who were soon on the scene and found the father sitting in a chair and his wife covered in blood on the floor.

 

She was taken to hospital.

 

Phuwanai Mahakhot of Lat Yao police said that the old man was detained. He was unable to explain why he had attacked his wife.

Maybe dementia. Known a couple of old people diagnosed with Alzheimer's who suddenly turn violent towards their spouses.

She must have burned his dinner, or refused his amorous advances.

At least he did not hit a dog......

 

Yes I would also suspect it was dementia related.  Many cases where the person with it suddenly does not recognize some one they knew the day before, or even a

few hours before, and become scared and also violent as they worry about being attacked themselves.

Rightly or wrongly yaba seems to get the blame for much of the domestic violence that goes on in Thailand. So despite their age I will go with that popular theory.
