Government to promote innovations in 5 areas in achieving Thailand 4.0

 

BANGKOK, 11th September 2017 (NNT) – A Deputy Prime Minister has indicated that the government will be pushing five innovations as part of its Thailand 4.0 aspirations. 

Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Junthong, speaking at the “Thailand 4.0: Views from German Alumni” seminar, organized by the Thai-Germany Alumni Association under Royal Patronage to mark its 50th anniversary, stated that in achieving the Thailand 4.0 agenda, the government has acknowledged the importance of utilizing technology for development.

 

He further explained that during the first 5 years of the 20-year national strategy, the state will be driving five areas of innovation, namely; robotics and automation, automatic industrial and medical systems, digital technology, food and agriculture and petrochemicals and energy. 

Director of Model Factories for the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Panit Kijsuban meanwhile drew comparisons between Thailand 4.0 and the Industry 4.0 concept of Germany.

 

He pointed out the German goal was to create new economies through innovation and to make existing industries more resilient to change and that while the aims of the two national agendas are different, Thailand can still learn from Germany, especially in terms of adapting according to current circumstances and the need for the participation of all sides.

 

He called on those at the forefront of innovation to lead the charge towards regulation changes that will foster more development.

For the rest i first have to see it, you can't compare Thailand with Germany....Hopefully the Germans will teach them about safety first.

Thailand should stick to what they do best tourism,shopping malls,restaurants,massages and beer bars...

I have never understood this Thailand 4.0 business. It sounds like of one those really vague objectives we used to have as part of KPIs....the one that everybody achieved. If it is not quantifiable and time constrained it is meaningless. It sounds like one of the vague wished for Thailand to be the IT hub of ASEAN, I mean why wouldn't you pick Singapore, or Malaysia or Laos?

Thailand 4.0:

 

"You want massage? Where you go?"

Why bother? Just wear the correct amulet and you achieve whatever you want.

Germany's education system has always been tightly coupled to what its companies need. Infrastructure and the education system will need a revolution to get anywhere near what Thailand 4.0 proposes and the Generals have been told this by Thai business leaders. These changes do not happen overnight.
