Rescue worker who loves his job brings some light relief to work

From the outside it looks like any normal ambulance used by Thailand's rescue services.

But inside the Toyota it is an entirely different matter - the ambulance has been kitted out with the popular Minions cartoon characters and is themed throughout.

The ambulance is the handiwork of Niran Leu-Suwan who works for the Phiaw Yiang Thai foundation in Sri Racha.

Daily News caught up with him at the foundation's center in Surasak sub-district yesterday.

Niran said that he had admired the work of the rescue foundations since he was a child and when he grew up hat is all he wanted to do.

He has been a rescue worker for 20 years now.

He decided to kit out his ambulance with the Minions characters to bring light relief from stress to the patients that he must take to hospitals in the course of his work.

The van has soft toys, backrests, stickers - all manner of Minions characters to brighten anyone's day.

And Niran has used his own money to make it all possible.

Right...just what I want to see if I'm in an ambulance.

How strange (August 30th):

I wonder if the replies will be the same?

Mine is.

The only way to get me in that thing would be unconscious.

Bit of light relief. I was expecting a different type of story.

Looks like a child's cubby house not a professional ambulance staffed by mature professionals.

Perhaps they could do a Hello Kitty one to persuade you in.

Yes,, what is it about the Thais that just about anything in the way of home decorations, bedsheets, towels, waste baskets,  mobile phone covers, rice cookers, etc etc are all decorated in Hello Kitty, Doraemon, Pokemon, Ben 10, Dragons, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse etc.  All designed to appeal to 6 year olds with the attention span of fruit flies..

Is there no original, clever Thai art or creativity? Just asking.
