The Republicans aren't even the same party they were 30 years ago, let alone in Lincoln's time. The exact same thing could be said of the Democrats. Both parties now serve the interests of multinational corporations first rather than their historical constituencies. Much of the turmoil we see in America is a reflection of these political betrayals.
