Tourist Visa from Embassy London

Recommended Posts

I have my mother, father and nephew coming over the end of next month. They have sent all passports to the Thai Embassy in London for a Tourist Visa.

The passports havr been away 2 weeks. They were tracked and arrived. How long normally to receive the passports back? Obviously depends on the time of year.

She will email today to find out but has anyone any idea of the normal processing time.

Thanks.

4 days.

Something wrong if they haven't been returned in 2 weeks.

When Submitting your Application by Post

  • Complete and sign one application form. Only visa application forms issued by The Royal Thai Embassy in London will be accepted. A separate form is required for each traveller regardless of age. Download form here.
  • Your Passport/Travel Document which must be valid for at least 6 Months from the date of  application.
  • Two (2) recent passport size photos.
  • Tourist Visa Single Entry (£25), Tourist Visa Multiple Entries (£125), Non Immigrant Visa Single Entry (£50) and Non-Immigrant Visa Multiple Entries (£125).
  • Each applicant must enclose return address and pay an extra £10 on top of the visa fee to cover the return of passport.

Visa application by post will normally be processed within 3 - 5 working days

Did she pay by Postal Order and ensure return address and 10p per passport for return mail?

I always enclosed a pre-paid Royal Mail Special Delivery pre addressed envelope for return.

Usually if there is a problem with the processing procedure, they contact you via telephone or e-mail as supplied on the form. (?)

If they were returned via standard mail and been mislaid, the standard insurance does not cover the cost of replacement passports.

Happened to a friend a few years ago, took weeks and cost a fortune to get replacement passports.

They were forced to cancel their holiday and re-book, losing further money because of the cancellation.

Yes they do thankfully.

so were the visa's issued, where the passports not sent with the application,

if still not sorted maybe a trip to a Thai consulate will do the job

I'm guessing the problem has been identified now and being corrected.

Possible payment by cheque, instead of Postal Order, or forgetting to add on the £10return postal fee....easily done.

They may live local to London, the Embassy would be nearer than the Consulates.

I once visited an Embassy in London (not Thai). By the time I paid the parking fee and the road toll charges, it cost more than the Visa.

Next time I used the postal system.

She read the visa info incorrectly and never sent the PP's only photos. Sorted now. Her first time applying for a visa. Fortunately the info supplied here was passed on to her and the problem fixed.
