Hi am on my first retirement visa is it right that  near the end of my of visa I get re entery visa  and fly out of thailand and re enter I will get a full year visa again

If you have a multiple entry Non O-A (multiple entry) visa, issued by the embassy in your home country, you can leave and reenter the country just prior to the expiry date of the visa and get a final one-year permission to stay. If you subsequently leave the country after the expiry of the visa, you need a reentry permit to keep the final permission to stay intact for your return.

Ensure you really have a Non O-A (long stay) visa, not a multiple entry Non O (that allows 90-day stays) or an extension of stay on the basis of retirement that was procured from an immigration office inside Thailand. The rules in those cases is quite different.

Assuming you have a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant 'O-A' Visa...

You need to make a final entry on or before the 'enter before' date (visas expiry) printed on the visa, and you'll receive a new 1 year permit to stay. You don't need a re-entry permit for that entry.

If you want to exit and re-enter at anytime during that final year you need a re-entry permit to keep the permission to stay alive.

Once again, confusion due to the "never ever ending story" of terminology of these VISAS and extenstions.

Because there seems to be an endless line of people using the wrong wording, the possibility of helping straight away, is close to none without needing to ask follow up questions. and they are;

a - Are you really having a retirement-VISA?

b - What kind of VISA do you have?

b - Or are you just having an extension of stay based on..... (in this case retirement)

If you guys could be more careful, and learn the difference, it would be so much eaiser for everybody who wishes to help out.....

i agree with Glegolo, the constant misnaming of visa's, visa exempt and extensions, do make it harder to give quick, concise accurate information, and the lack of knowledge of the required requirements to live in a foreign country also never fails to amaze me.

so OP let us know exactly what you have and a photo speaks a thousand words. did you have to do a police check and a medical to obtain the visa you have in your passport.

in the Op corner is at least he asked before doing.

NO you have to re new your extension of stay at immigration office showing everything you did when you got the extension last year. 800k  which i belive has to have been in your bank for 3 months before you renew extension plus all the relevant paper work you need.

You can do this 30 days before (some immigration offices allow 45 days before)

You are not on a retirement visa. Its an Extension of stay based on Retirement as you finaly said.

A re-entry permit (it is not a visa) adds no days to your permit to stay. It only keeps the permit to stay it is issued for valid when you re-enter the country.

You will have to apply for a new one year extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration. You will need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 3 months or proof of 65k baht income by way of a income letter from your embassy or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

NO you will, if you have a valid Re Entry Permit, keep the extension of stay in your passport. Without Re Entry Permit, you will lose all of it and have to start all over again, with new Non Imm O and so forth.....

still confuesed ?   i have a non o imm retirement visa- multi entry until 28nov 2018....does that mean that i have to leave thailand every 90 days, then return and do the same until 28nov 2018 ??

after 2018, it may be inconvenient to continue departing thailand, every 90 days---

what do i need to be able to stay pernanently ???

800,000 bht in account is no problem or i can show income from my own country, well in excess of  65,000 bht/mth

can i easily make application myself at jomien immigration?

do i need a non o-a retirement visa, to stay permanently ?? i want to be able to come and go from thailand,at my liesure, not forced to leave every 90days...

is it not possible to get a non o-a   first time ???

Not sure what you have since a multiple entry non-o visa is only valid for one year from the date of issue. November 2018 is about 14 months from now.

Are you sure you don't have an extension of stay based upon retirement issued by immigration and a multiple re-entry permit.

Sorry, but your post makes little sense.

As UJ has said, then how can you have a visa that is valid until 28th November 2018, or for that matter an extension of stay, as this is in 14 months time.

thanks joe, i definitely have 14+ moths and yes it is retirement enabling me to make multiple entries---several people have said that- i MUST leave thailand every 90 days...this confuses me...

It is probaly an extension of stay first one could last 15mths with the initial non o 90 day then extension and hes a month into it.

Well, if it is such, then the answer is he would not have to leave Thailand every 90 days.

thanks for replies so far--im still a little confused...

i now understand that 90 day report is needed 90 days after each re-entry into thailand---but-- i have a non-imm  retirement visa until 28nov 2018....multiple entry......this means  i can come and go as i please until 28 nov 2018...dont have to leave thailand every 90 days  ???   my visa was issued at chonburi

Taken from anothervthread he has a extension of stay must be first one so 15mths.

So no you do not have to leave every 90 days.

You have to report to immigration every 90days. If you are in country for a full 90 days of course every time you re enter it resets the 90 days.

As you have stated in other threads you leave often. So you will only have to do a 90 day report IF you syay in country for the full 90 days from your last entry.

You do not have a NON o multi entry Visa.

You have.

An Extension of stay based on retirement
