Salaya Story
Hi I've just opened a company with two Thai partners. The functions of the company registered are tourism and trade. We are now about to start the process of obtaining a TAT License, and I was told, for around 2-3 months, we were not allowed to operate as a tour company. That's a long time waiting for us, considering the fact we already have some customers waiting. Anybody has experiences operating a tour company in the kingdom? Did having a TAT License really benefit your business? It seems like it's a must otherwise we cannot even use the new company to do any tour legally though,,,, just wondering how beneficial it could be. terminatorchiangmai
you don't benefit from it , but its mandatory by Law. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 100.000 behind on a bank account for TAT specialy. Also you need to prove you have insurance for your customers , a contract for 100 clients is enough even if you have more then 4000 clients. That really shows how ridiculous the TAT is. Good luck
Khun Robert
Yes, it benefit the business by making it a legal business. Be aware that the number you get from TAT must by on all the advertisement you make, every neon sign, poster, flyer, business card etc must have that number. The license isn't for your benefit, it's for your customer's benefit. It also ensures all tour companies operate on the same basis. If you operate without a license, it is your competitors who will be most annoyed. If a complaint is made that an unlicensed tour company is operating then things are going to be difficult, expensive or both.
