About 1.829 million vehicles are using eight expressways of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), an increase of 12.36 per cent, EXAT deputy governor Wicharn Ekkarinthakul said Friday.

Wicharn said the EXAT earned a revenue of Bt25.794 billion from the expressway tolls during the 2017 fiscal year that would end this month, or it earned an average of Bt70.67 million a day as expressway tolls.

The previous fiscal year, the EXAT earned about Bt69.96 million a day, he added. He said three years ago, the number of average vehicles that used the expressways was about 1.617 million a day.

He said the Sriraj second-stage 38.4-km expressway was the mostly used with 703,373 vehicles a day.

It was followed by Chalerm Mahanakhon first-stage 27.1-km expressway that was used by about 372,120 vehicles a day.

The Kanchanapisek (Bang Plee-Suksawat) 22.5-km expressway came third with about 257,488 vehicles using it each day.

He said the EXAT expected its profit this year at the end of December would be about Bt9 billion.

I suspect that was the official figure after the tollway tills were tickled.

a lot of money

Well spend some of it on repairing the roads and do away with the killer potholes, you have the money so you claim but not the brain to realize what maintenance does.
