Income confirmation from embassy for a Thai retirement visa

Featured Replies

Looking at the net it seems quite a bit is outdated but must you have a letter from your embassy or will bank statement(s) do?

And how long does the procedure take roughly for the visa?

Assuming your asking about applying for an extension of stay based on retirement...

You need a letter from your embassy confirming your income. Bank statements wouldn't be accepted.

Most extensions are issued on the spot.

What nationality are you?

If British go to:-

Sorry to hi-jack, but if going the embassy letter only route, do Imm. still require to see a bank book?

I don't have a Thai bank account yet, and my MEV will only have max. 90 days on it, so having problems getting an account.

It is not a requirement you have a Thai bank account to apply for an extension of stay at immigration.

You can email all the required bank statements, and Credit Card permission of course, and they will post the letter back to you within 10 days. Done it, been there.

Strange.

The website states...."This service is only available by post"

British embassy acting upon a scanned copy of a credit card authorisation?

Apologies for doubting you, I read the statement in read at the top of the website page and hadn't picked up the option to email.

I applaud this progress by the British embassy.

What I would like to know is that, if the Embassy are happy for us to request income confirmation letters by email complete with scanned credit card authorisations, then why are their HMPO colleagues not equally willing for us to email passport renewal applications direct to the UK, thus saving us 1-way courier costs at least and the ridiculous requirement for 2 arduous physical trips for those of us living in the back of beyond to an office building with an exceedingly silly name tucked down an obscure back soi in a dodgy part of Bangkok (Nana) according to a number of reports on here?

Ditto DWP in the case of the equally ridiculous requirement for witnessed State Pension life certificates.
