BANGKOK, 25th September 2017 (NNT) - A government spokesperson has confirmed that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will visit the White House, probably in October.

Deputy government spokesperson Lt Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak has insisted that the prime minister will definitely visit the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump, denying a rumor that Gen Prayut’s White House visit had already been called off due to certain restrictions.

He said the United States is looking forward to Gen Prayut’s visit, but is currently preoccupied with the United Nations General Assembly which closes on Monday, September 25th, and the ongoing efforts to help those affected by natural disasters. The US has recently been hit by heavy storms and hurricanes.

In response to State Counsellor of Myanmar, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s call for the world community to help resolve the Rohingya crisis, Lt Gen Werachon said Thailand will not intervene in other nations’ internal affairs, but will abide by the framework and treaties of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Or probably in November or December or next year sometime? The UN is certainly giving the clear impression Prayut's visit is right at the very bottom of their priorities list. I suspect Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland would be in the waiting line before PM Prayut.

...yet.

There likely never was an "invitation"......

Pretty sure the good general will be told over and over again to shutdown North Korean businesses and do something about the trade imbalance.   Wonder if the good general is more interested junta recognition than the subject of the talks with the most divisive US president in 50 years.

This meeting clearly has a high priority in Trump's diary () but it might well be cancelled once he realises that Thailand is still actively trading with North Korea.  No doubt, the Junta's declared explanation for such a cancellation would be that the PM is "too busy", an explanation that Steven 100 would undoubtedly support.
