SW Pensioner from EU country now receiving also Child Payment is refused that Child Payment back-dated from Date of Notification to Date of Birth

Featured Replies

Dear Fellow Thaivisa.com Posters

I receive from my EU country’s department of social welfare a pension to be paid to me whereever in the world I locate.

I am with my Thai woman some 10 years.

My child is 8 years.

I was only able to inform my department of I having child some 3 years ago when on return to my country I finally retrieved a personal mobile phone number of top senior civil servant who assured me of his personal intervention to solve any social welfare issue I ever experience.

And, it was indeed this civil servant whom I breached my circumstance.

They gave me reassurances that special payment for pensioner who has child would be given to me ;

And, that it would be back-dated to date of his birth.

I returned to Thailand, & submitted all the paperwork with translations.

Payments for me in respect of my child commenced.

However, I only get paid since date I informed them of my child ;

i.e.

No back-dating to date of my child's birth.

A globe-trotting polymath polyglot Expat friend of mine long based in LOS, & very sharp & knowledgeable about a great many various situations typical of Falangs here, assures me that :

My department’s decision to now "refuse to give me rebate in this circumstance" is contrary to what the other EU countries do for their nationals here,

vis.

All EU countries that pay the extra payment for the child do indeed back-date the payment from date of notification to date of child’s birth.

And, so with this post, I wish to learn the insight & experiences of other posters knowledgeable about this type of situation.

Thanking u in advance,

Regards,
