CHONBURI, 28th September 2017 (NNT) – The Department of Highways will apply a closed system for toll collection on Chonburi-Pattaya motorway.

Department of Highways Director-General Thanin Somboon said today the agency would implement the closed system for toll collection on the Chonburi-Pattaya motorway in early 2018, rendering the entire Bangkok-Pattaya motorway a part of the closed system with toll collecting stations at all entries to the motorway.

The closed system will be launched along with the installation of the Intelligence Transportation System (ITS) to help manage the traffic, improve service quality and safety measures among highway motorists. The installation of the system on the Chonburi-Pattaya motorway commenced in late 2016, and is now 90 percent complete and will be online in early 2018.

Once implemented, the Chonburi-Pattaya motorway will have five toll collecting stations. Motorists who don't wish to use the motorway to avoid paying tolls can do so by using two parallel roads alongside the motorway. For more information, call Hotline 1586, press 7, around the clock.

Or you could use Siam CC road, if they ever finish it!!!

I hope the current slip road exit just before the toll gates on the north/west bound (leaving Pattaya) lanes will remain as the last free exit. It's already quite busy with stuff exiting for the Crocodile farm road or bypassing the mess on the west-end of SSCC to access the lake and the dark side so I would expect it to get even busier. Hopefully they will do something about the munters who use this short exit ramp to ENTER Highway 7 doing a dangerous u-turn across traffic to get to the toll gates. To lazy to drive another 150 m and do a safer u-turn on the slip road and merge into the toll gate traffic.
