PM vows to round up more ‘rebels’

Featured Replies

Prime Minister Hun Sen has vowed to track down and arrest “rebels” attempting to start a colour revolution in the country. Speaking yesterday at the inauguration of the Sokha Siem Reap Hotel, Mr Hun Sen said a systematic network of treasonous individuals were trying to destroy national security in the country, referring to alleged associates of jailed opposition leader Kem Sokha.

CNRP leader Kem Sokha was last month charged with treason over comments made in 2013 video footage from Australia-based CBN news, which showed him saying the US government had been helping him to push for regime change in Cambodia since 1993. Mr Hun Sen said Mr Sokha’s arrest was only the beginning of a crackdown on dissenters, adding he would not allow anyone to destroy peace in the country.

“We will not give up after catching just one person,” he said. “This is being organised systematically. We will not let these people betray the country.” Addressing the “rebels”, he said: “Do not think you can do what you want and destroy Cambodia by making us slaves to foreigners. We dare to face up to you all.”

A nasty former terrorist and thug. He has got away with it for a long time though, just like Mugabe.
