October 3, 20178 yr Two arrested, 400 kgs of ‘ice’ seized in Chiang Rai By The Nation Police arrested two men and seized 400 kilograms of crystal meth or “ice” at a road checkpoint in Chiang Rai province late Monday night. Police said a sedan car and a pickup truck, which were apparently driven in a pair, suspiciously stopped before they reached the checkpoint in Tambon Thakor in Mae Saruay district at 11.30pm. When police signalled them to drive to the checkpoint, the two cars tried to turn back and flee but police managed to block them in time. Police found 400 kilograms of the drug hidden in 16 fertilizer bags. The two suspects were identified as Nirandorn Raothao, 29, and Santi Raothao, 23. Both are residents of Chiang Mai’s Mae Wang district. They admitted that they had been hired by a Hmong man to smuggle the drug from the border in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district to inner Thailand.
