From recent post’s correct No more year B visa’s period

this is what I was told at KL on the 21st December

and it was confirmed by Sunbelt when I called them

from KL after been to the embassy.

I was told by the Most pleasant embassy lady that this had come into force 3 weeks

prior and that IM in bkk now deal with multiple entry visa’s.

From what I understand from communication with the immigration office

that as long as one meet the criteria required, ie showing tax on salary and vat

that there should be no problem for company managing directors.

From what I also gather is that the change is so that immigration and see you

in person to ascertain that “ you are real” and that the face on WP/passport are indeed

You. ( Nothing wrong with that I say ) it seem’s perfectly fair to me.

I do not know why this was not the case before , trips to KL can be rather expensive

as the beer is over priced and the beach bar is not up to much, lol

Better everything done in bkk, well done immigration.

Dose anyone know what happened today with the company ownership rag’s

it must be a worry for the Thai people that work for multi national such as Tesco’s

if they pull out. Shocking lose of jobs..

It seems you were told this by an Embassy - not by Immigration. And as far as I know immigration is not issuing multi entry visas so suspect there was a misunderstanding. Although would love to be wrong on that.

from what we have been told, " on request and they consider as necessary " and will give up to one year each time.

consider case by case , if multi not given have to make entry at airport and pay some

more baht apperntly between 1900 - 3800b

I do hope true as we need to travel to Philippians and Kl to meet clients

That is not a visa but an extension of stay and has always been available for those that meet the conditions (especially the income by nationality one) but does not replace the multi entry non immigrant O visa which was used mostly by those who did not qualify for the immigration extension of stay.

To leave on any extension of stay, and return with the same extension, requires a re-entry permit at 1,000 baht for single entry or 3,800 baht for multi entry.

The extension of stay itself, TM.7 will cost the 1,900 baht.

That is fine but you need to meet specific requirements depending on your employment and nationality. It is best to talk with immigration first to make sure you have all the paperwork in order or hire a firm to help. It is really a little more than visiting a Consulate and obtaining a visa (although recently that has become rather complex also).

I can't tell if this is supposed to mean just for KL, but I can confirm that there is no problem getting multiple entry, one-year non-immigrant B visas from consulates in the US if you're a US citizen. I know several people who have gotten theirs in the last few weeks and there was no hassle and no required background checks. With all of the information going around lately, I thought it might be worth confirming that whatever you're hearing elsewhere, US citizens that I know in the US with legitimate company paperwork haven't been having any issues. I suspect we're a fairly small subset of the readership though.

I also suspect they were not getting them on the basis of becoming teachers. It is only teachers that require the background check.

Well that's good to hear, though it's only the 58th thing I've read on the topic, making it hard to figure out what's what. I swear I read in at least one thread on the topic where someone said they were required for all non-imm Bs now, not just teachers. It might be (would be) useful to have a spot on the site that declares what is and isn't the prevailing wind of the day, like a weather report for visas, because trying to keep track of the personalities here, their reliability and the myriad rumors purveyed is pretty tough - and I've been a regular reader for a couple of years, heh. You are incorrect. LA and London are requiring a cbc, as noted on their websites, as is KL and Penang, verified by a phone call.

I also suspect they were not getting them on the basis of becoming teachers. It is only teachers that require the background check.
