Tiger Airways launches Scheduled Flights between Singapore and Udon Thani in Thailand

Tiger Airways has launched scheduled international flights from Singapore to Udon Thani, Thailand.

Udon Thani, which also serves as a gateway to Vientiane Laos, is Tiger Airways 6th destination in Thailand; the others being Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Krabi and Phuket.

“Tiger Airways is delighted to be the first international carrier to operate scheduled flights at the new Udon Thani “International” Airport. It is a great honour to be the first international carrier to serve Udon Thani and the people in North East Thailand as well as provide greater access to Vientiane and Laos. The establishment of this flight service is a reflection of the strong commitment of the local government in supporting the growth of the tourism industry and bringing greater prosperity to the populace in the region. We feel privileged to have such strong partners in this program and Tiger Airways is committed to the long term success of this route,“ said Tiger Airways CEO, Tony Davis.

The latest destination of Udon Thani will also provide new tourism and trade opportunities between Singapore and Laos as Udon Thani is a convenient gateway to Vientiane (about an hour away by car).

I live in Singapore and will look at these flights.

As someone above pointed out there are lots of workers in Singapore who are from Udon and surrounds. I have had guys from Nakhon Panom (sp) working in my condo.

Thing is though these guys only get to go home about once a year - the Chinese work them hard for 20,000THB a month

I suppose some of them do!

I still find it shocking the adverts for maids that advertise "No off day" - these poor girls are meant to work 365 days a year.
