Location of Pattaya Area Office to file a Claim for Tax Refund

Can anyone direct me to the Tax Office where I would go to file a claim for refund of taxes deducted/withheld from interest on a bank savings account? My account is with a bank whose office is in Pattaya city and I reside in Pong if that makes any difference. My bank told me that the Tax Office was in the Pattaya city offices on Pattaya Nua, but when I went there they said there was no Tax Office in the Pattaya City office, and directed me to an office in Jomtien on 2nd Road (?) near Immigration. I have not tried to locate that office yet. Another person at the bank said that the Tax Office was in the offices at the Police Station on Sukumvit in North Pattaya.  It really shouldn't be this difficult to find the office to file for the tax refund. Has anyone filed an application for a tax refund who can direct me to the correct office/location to file my refund claim? I think I have all of the necessary papers/documents to file my refund application. I just need to know where to take them. Thanks in advance to anyone who can send me in the right direction. Actually, all of the requirements to file for the refund and the office location should be a "pinned" topic, as I expect that it is information that is frequently needed and not easy to  get, especially given language difficulties.  Thanks.

Great! Thanks very much.

I made the same inquiry to my accountant who does my annual company accounts, who sent me the following reply:

"I would like to inform you that you have to go to the Tax Office in Naklua near Banglamung district Office behind the Police Station in Naklua."

The difference in the responses may have to do with the location of my residence, but it least I have narrowed down the location of the tax office to 2 locations. I'll head to the Police Station first, and if that is incorrect, I'll go to Jomtien.

If you have a Thai speaker it may be worth taking them with you (unless you speak Thai of course) as knowing exactly what to do can be a little problematical and may take longer than it should. I was also told this year that next time I needed to complete the form by myself and was told to take a picture of the completed form so I could do so.....

Some years ago I also went to the Naklua office first and was eventually redirected to Jomtien but only after some hours of waiting..................

The other point is that normally you should claim for the previous calendar year interest (and can be I think up to 3? previous years) between December and March. I think if you claim late you have to pay a 100 baht fine or similar. Perhaps someone else who knows for sure can chime in?

Thanks. I think you are right about the January to March, but happy to pay B100+ to get the process started. Perhaps I will rethink and start with the Jomtien office and move to Naklua if that isn't the right place.

March is the cut-off for free filing.

They filled in my form for me this year as usual and no one said that I would have to do it myself next year. Dont decrepit old farts get it done for them anyway regardless of nationality? I nearly qualify.

I effected first time for tax refund last year on savings interest in February,(Pattaya / Jomtien tax offices, received cheque two weeks later for 17,000.

Very easy for little effort.

Been there today and completed this year claim.

Procedure:

Go to your banks before March and ask for taxation certificate for each and every passbook or the relevant total years claimed bank statements.

Go to Jontien Revenue office and complete paperwork to register and get an Tax card.

Then complete claims for refund at same office.

Requirements:

Tax certificates

Photopcopy of every page of passbooks

Photocopy of Passport

Proof of address, ie a bill etc.

Easy as that, but can be easier if you have a thai with you, but really not neccesary, just a smile and they help you.

Message me if you need more info?

March is correct, but not enforced, its more about fines for non-declaration of taxes liable, rather than a refund.you can go back several years of claims providing  you have ALL the paperback .

Thanks very much for the details. It looks like the Jomtien office is the place to go.
