Police prevent crimes against flood victims

BANGKOK, 16th October 2017 (NNT)-The Royal Thai Police Bureau has instructed police nationwide to protect flood victims against crimes while they are trying to get back on their feet.

Royal Thai Police Deputy Spokesman, Pol Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen said national police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has instructed police units across the nation to monitor the flood situation closely.

The information they collect will be used to develop measures to help victims in flood-prone areas. Due to recent storms and the need to release water from the Chao Phraya Dam, many provinces including Lopburi, Kham Phaeng Petch and Ayutthaya have been inundated.

Regional police units have been told to obtain rescue equipment and vehicles and promptly help residents in the event of flooding.

Police patrols will also be deployed to flooded areas to prevent ill-intentioned individuals from taking advantage of the situation and committing crimes against flood victims.

Deputy Spokesman Pol Col Kritsanam, has also advised anyone planning a trip outside of their hometown to check the weather conditions before leaving.
