To go to poi pet for the day:

Go to Rama 4 Road between 4 to 6 am on any day (across lumpini park and HSBC building), there will be buses parked on the road getting ready to leave for the cambodia casinos in poi pet.

300 baht round trip for farang, 100 for Thais. Does not include visa fee which you have to pay to Cambodia immigration.

Yes, this particular service is still running well because it caters primarily to Thai gamblers and not really to farang border runners.

That is the main reason why it's cheaper for the Thais... because they're riding the bus to gamble and make the casinos rich, unlike farangs and Filipinos who mostly simply use it as a cheaper option than the 2,000 baht Visa Run companies, and do not gamble as much (if at all) as the Thai gambling addicts for whom these buses are originally created for.

Thank you both greatly for you help, if i may extend my question a little i was told today by the thai embassy that it is possible to obtain a visa on arrival at the airport which would allow me to stay 60 days and while i can find alot on the VOA i cant seem to see anything of relevence to me (UK citizen). Does anyone possbily know if this is possible or am i getting the run around? thanks again for the peace of mind and speedy replys

You were told that by who exactly and in what Embassy/Consulate?

Not only can you not obtain a visa on arrival holding a UK passport it would only allow a 15 day stay even if you could. What you can obtain is a 30 day non visa entry but that is 30 days not 60.

If you try to fly out of the UK with a return ticket beyond 30 days you had best have a tourist visa first or the airline may refuse to allow you to board, depending on there policy/mood.

The information you received is wrong .

Without Visa you will get a Visa Waiver/Visa exempt stamp at the airport which entitles you for a stay of up to 30days.

If you need to do a Visa Run it's better to use a organized Tour , this could save you time and trouble.

IMHO the Casino Buses and a Run to PoiPet/Aran are only for experienced VisaRunners.
