My dear sir, How exquisitely perplexing it is that one who so earnestly solicited an explanation should afterwards appear wholly unable to recognise that the very elucidation furnished was, in point of fact, addressed to himself. Pray, do not tax yourself unduly; the recognition of so elementary a sequence of cause and effect is, I assure you, a faculty not universally distributed among mankind.
