PHUKET: Navy experts have carried out X-ray scans of the object on Nai Yang Beach that was initially suspected of being a World War II torpedo and confirmed that it is not explosive.

The news comes after the object has spent more than two weeks on the popular Phuket beach, albeit in a roped-off area to keep people a safe distance away.

The suspect object was first discovered by a local fisherman on Oct 3 who reported the discovery to officers stationed at Sirinath National Park.

"the now firmly believed" still sounds a little ambiguous, however I will concede after the examinations by the Navy guys they probably know what their on about, seemed to take them a while to figure it out though.

Amazing. Now the thing is fully exposed the asymmetric fins can be seen revealing, to me, that it could be a military aircraft drop tank although some paravanes also had similar fin arrangements. Whatever, how it could have been identified as a torpedo without having external propulsion components is laughable.
