Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday ordered the Ministry of Public Works and Phnom Penh Municipality to repair National Road 4, which has suffered significant damage to some parts. Speaking to workers in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district yesterday, Mr Hun Sen said he had ordered Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol and Phnom Penh Municipality chief Khoung Sreng to fix the road.

“Some part of National Road 4 are damaged a lot. It’s time to repairit and work must start soon. Weneed good roads to make transportbetter and to attract investors,” hesaid. Sous Vanda, a resident along the road, said people who live along the highway were very happy when they heard that government officials had been told to repair it.

“Some places of the road are badly damaged. That damage causes traffic jams and it is difficult to travel on,” she said. Va Sim Sorya, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, could not be reached for comment.
