WHAT's Best SIM card deal upon Int’l arrival at Swampy?

Featured Replies

Can anybody give advise buying a 3month Thai SIM card (iPhone) for at least 3 months upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport ?

Which provider offer the best deal and are there shops on Swampy selling these deals?

Thanks a lot for your input :wai: sorry but I couldn't find any details about this.

pick up a pay as you go sim in the arrivals hall, suitable for your needs, calls data etc. plenty of providers to choose from.

or can be bought in 7-11 stores.

About all main providers have a big booth just after passing customs.

Best? So hard to say.

DTAC is quite popular for data packages and coverage in the cities/urban areas is good.

I would buy a regular SIM and not a tourist SIM, as those charge higher fees/rates.

If you mostly want data: TRUE has a lot of one-off packages, daily, weekly, monthly that you can apply for and that don't renew automatically.

Indeed no need to buy something "special".

Other providers also have similar data packages.

I have AIS and use a data package (weekly) when traveling.

Go to the one that has the shortest line

I came in the other day and DTAC was so crowded I just kept walking,  AIS was almost as bad but TRUE had a nano SIM @ 90 THB in my Nexus 5X within two minutes, the delay was copying my passport face page

I like AIS 1-2 Call w/unlimited data..........you can get it in the arrival area, just keep 800 baht on iy and it won;t expire,  have had the same number for 3 years.

Pretty much the same for me. After getting my luggage and heading to door 3 to meet my ride, I just stop at AIS  "1 2 Call" and get a load for my phone (calls and data). I have also had my same number (12 years). When I leave the expire date is always 1 year out.

To the OP, if your I Phone is unlocked when you arrive, just go to one of the cell carrier providers out in the hallway after leaving customs. Show them your passport hand, tell them what you want and hand over your phone and let them get it set up. They will show you a price card so you can pick the data plan you want.

Be sure to tell them you need it for 3 months. If you are planning on returning in the near future may up to a year and want to use the same sim and keep the same number, also let them know that and they will sort it out for you.

Like what was said you can stop at 'Family Mart' or 7-11" to get your phone topped up. However, 7-11 on my last trip still didn't do the load for 1 2 Call.

7/11 doesn't reload AIS anymore...........don't know why.  I always go to an AIS shop in any shopping area you can find one.  You can top it up with a machine outside any of them.

Next time, try the Mobiles section...for example

There is no "best SIM card deal", as it all depends on how you intend to use the Internet.

If you do a lot of streaming and downloading, your needs will differ from someone who just browses the Internet and uses Chat applications.

I would avoid any temptation to just pick from the list offered, as suggested, as they will offer the poorest deals at the airport.

Unfortunately many people simply cannot be bothered, so they just take what they are offered, whatever the price.

Best to simply buy the basic 49 baht SIM at one of the network booths at the airport and an amount of credit, then to tap in a simple short code to activate the package that fits your needs, not the pockets of the network.

So, how do you intend to use the data?
