Hotel Suggestion - Lumphini Park

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a hotel suggestion (to 2000 Baht) within a comfortable walking distance to the new Australian Embassy on Wireless road. There appears to be many but I have never stayed in that area in the past.

Thank you in advance

I'd recommend booking.com or Agoda.  There's a link at the top of this page for Agoda.

You can see on a map all the hotels nearby, prices, ratings and reviews.  Not a bad start.

Good luck!

I used booking.com and one high and often rated place is the:

Pinnacle Lumpinee Park Hotel

It's just south of Rama IV rd. and about the closest you can get (less than 500 meter linear distance/bee-line).

You will need a short detour to the next pedestrian bridge to cross Rama IV.

Around Lumpini park (north of Rama IV) there are no hotels shown (in this price range).

Thank you both, I had actually booked the Pinnacle prior to seeing KhunBENQ's post after spending some time on the booking sites and Google Earth.

Done and dusted, will report back with my thoughts

Feedback is always welcome whether positive or negative.

Might be interesting for other nationals as other embassies around (Germany, USA, ...).

MRT & BTS stops at Lumphini, which opens up a lot of the city for an early morning appointment

Sure, I have used public transport to the (OLD) Embassy in the past BUT this time I arrive into BKK on a late flight and continue on at midday BUT do not want to tot my luggage with me on my quick visit to the embassy in the morning hence I need a hotel to be within walking distance.

Sounds like a good plan.

And I remember our ride in the MRT in the morning (German embassy is not far).

Crammed like in sardine can, ice cold. And that was in 2012.

My verdict on the Pinnacle Hotel.

I'll compare it with the Amari at Don Muang where I stay quite often when in transit. Not as big but almost the same in all respects when it comes to room quality, breakfast, etc. I'll give it 75/100 when it comes to my level of hotel accommodation. 1700 Baht (through Agoda, all inclusive) for a "Deluxe" room which had just been recently re decorated. Easy walking distance to the Aust. Embassy which will become easier (more direct) when the re development work is finished in the huge lot opposite the Embassy.

Off topic:-

Contrary to some reports I have been reading on this site I found the New Embassies staff to be very pleasant and helpful, it was obvious they were all on a learning curve. My business complete I was out of there, back to the Pinnacle, checked out and in a Taxi to the airport by 09:30.
