Upper Thailand to see mercury drop by 2 to 4 degrees

By The Nation

Upper regions of Thailand will experience a temperature drop of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius due to expansion of a high-pressure mass from China into the regions, the Meteorological Department has predicted.

In its weather forecast covering 6am on Monday to 6am on Tuesday, the department said the North’s lowest mountain temperature would range from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature in the lowlands would range between 20 to 22 degrees.

In the Northeast, the lowest mountain would range between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, with lowlands at 18 to 22 degrees.

The central and eastern regions would see the temperature drop by 1 to 3 degrees to a range of 21 to 23 degrees.

The South would experience low temperatures from 20 to 25 degrees.

Bangkok would see the mercury drop by 1 to 3 degrees with the lowest temperature ranging from 23 to 24 degrees.

Drop by 2 - 4 C, over what period, for heaven's sake? Compared to 12mths or one day ago. What a totally meaningless report.

Further to that comment, I omitted to say that 6am temps, from one day to the next, here in Isan, often vary by 4 degrees between a cloudy night and a clear-sky night. It's nothing out of the ordinary at all . . . more an attempt, in my view, to scare us into believing that scary weather is on the way when, in fact, it's nothing more than the very typical progression from the hot season towards the cold winter season.

Calm down, take your tablets - it's only a weather forecast! don't believe too many are going to be scared! :shock1:
