Yingluck not in UK as political refugee

The United Kingdom has informed Thailand that if former premier Yingluck Shinawatra is in the country, she is not staying as a political refugee, according to Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai on Tuesday.

Rumours have been circulating that Yingluck plans to seek political asylum in the United Kingdom.

“UK government has confirmed that in case Yingluck is in the country, she is not staying as a political refugee,” Don said.

However, Don said that it is not known yet in which country Yingluck is currently staying. A Supreme Court has sentenced her in absentia to five years in jail for mishandling a rice subsidy scheme which cost Thailand at least US$8bn.

He also confirmed that four of YIngluck's passports have already been revoked  and that police will be responsible for asking for cooperation from the country in which Yingluck is is sheltering to send her back.

Don said that the information Thailand has is that she escaped from Thailand to Dubai of United Arab Emirates and then to a country in Europe.

"We don't know yet where she is," Don said.

Ah, UK not saying if she's in the country, but they know she's not staying as a political refugee.

Thailand, "Hey, UK. Is Yingluck there?"

UK, "She might be. She might not"

Thailand, "Oh, well would she be staying as a political refugee if she were there?"

UK, 'Oh, most definitely not! We're fully behind a junta and your made-up laws"

What a load of old b*****.

No she's not here as a refugee, but we don't know if she's here or not.

Lol.??hilarious

Fingers are not exactly on pulses are they!

This statement would approach credible if the response from the UK FO was published, otherwise it is just noise.

More hilarious than Schrödinger's cat.. :violin:

she meeting with mark zuckerberg

In other words:

maybe in the UK, maybe not,

........maybe applied for asylum, maybe not,

...............might be granted asylum, might not be.

Who knows? Obviously not Thai powers that be, and unlikely to be extradited wherever she is.

Nor is it likely that any such country will take the time to tell you.

Not a smell of this story with the UK media and boy can they make it up when they want to, last night big story the was the Catalonia leader was in Belgium seeking asylum, today its Catalonia's sacked President Carles Puigdemont says he has not travelled to Belgium to seek asylum.

They make it up as they go along, many must have learned the trade on holiday visits to country's that have so much trash on the beach, they had to do something to get their mind off it.

I wonder why Don does not officially ask? as that would wake up the UK press.

I doubt he would wish for the UK press to take an interest in Thailand. A quick scan of the stories running on the first page of this forum would show why.

There would certainly be no need to make anything up!

This fake news stuff is getting a bit out of hand. Isn't there something less surreal to write about ?

Hope she is having a wonderful time. The Ronnie Biggs of Thailand.

It is not hilarious...

She arrived but we do not know she left until she comes back.

It just proves what a shambles our border controls are, we check them in but not out. :saai:

Better asking Special Branch as the probably provide around the clock protection while she is here...

They don't know? Or aren't saying? Probably don't know, given how many illegal immigrants, in particular criminal elements, they can manage to mislay.
