Moving about on a retirement visa

If one is on a retirement visa does it mean you have to stay in one place, I like to move about.

No. But anytime you permanently leave an address you'd have to report your change of address.

You can move around freely. However, life becomes difficult if you do not retain a permanent Thai address for immigration purposes. Your 90-day reports and extensions are made to the immigration office of the area where you are registered with immigration. Most offices will give you grief if you want to do anything on a long term extension of stay while staying in a hotel for a few days.
