The world of Thai social media praised two reporters who responded to an accident when a pick-up overturned on a road in Surat Thani.

Pornphrom Malithip, 34, and his friend Theeraphat Cheewajit, 45, TV and print journalists, were travelling along Route 41 in Tha Chang district when they saw a pick-up ahead crash in heavy rain.

The pick-up overturned and left the road to end up on its roof with two men trapped inside.

Pornphrom decided to use a heavy rock to smash a window as the rain lashed down.

Sorapong Amornpiriyakorn, 29, and his brother Sathit, 27, managed to crawl out and were remarkably uninjured.

Sorapong, from Chiang Mai, said they were on their way from Bangkok to Phuket to work.

Pornphrom said he was happy to be able to help as netizens praised the quick actions of him and his friend.

"they saw a pick-up ahead crash in heavy rain. "  From the picture everybody looks very dry, even the ground and flora look dry. Was this a re-enactment for the press or did they just get teh details wrong??
