I have tickets to KL Malaysia to do a visa run for SETV at the Thai Consulate. Is it practical and relatively easy to obtain a visa there? Any tips  on making it a two-day process, as the consulate describes usually happens?

There have been recent reports of people getting a tourist visa there without a problem.

You apply for the visa the morning of one day and pick it up the next afternoon. I never heard of them not doing a next day service.

You can download the application form and the checklist for the requied doocuments here. http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/72043-ตรวจลงตรา-|-Visa.html

As long as you can meet the strict requirements it's ok to apply at KL. However, if you already have Tourist Visas in your passport, and/or a long recent history of staying in Thailand as a tourist you might be better advised to go elsewhere. The KL embassy don't tend to accommodate back to back tourism. The consulate in Penang would be a better choice first choice.

Thanks everyone for your guidance, it went very easily, getting my SETV. Arrived at KL Royal Thai Embassy Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. Queue was about 20 people already. Very simple process since paperwork was all in order. Was there perhaps an hour total. Returned Monday 2:30 p.m. and received visa/passport from two cheery, smiling women who seemed eager to greet me specifically (no idea why).  Only one visa photo was needed. Make sure you print the KL checklist from the Embassy's site, since it is a required part of the application. I supplied the following:  passport, signed copy of passport, signed checklist, signed visa application, photo, 1500 ringget (a sign inside says they will also accept Bhat), copy of 2-month lease at Thai guesthouse, copy of landlady's immigration form re my alien residency status, copy of arrival flight to Thailand, copy of departure flight from Thailand (in 5 months). Please note that some of the questions on the KL application form can seem a bit tricky to answer. For instance, I hold a USA passport. At the top of the visa application's right column, when asked "Countries for which travel document is valid," I was instructed to reply ALL.  Further below, when asked "Name and address of local guarantor," give the info on family/friend in USA who should be contacted in case of emergency. "Name and address of guarantor in Thailand" is likewise an emergency contact in Thailand -- not your bank. Hope that helps. KL is a great city, I will go back and enjoy the kind and tolerant people again!

Five months after your "flight in" date was OK?  Some consulates will allow up to 90 days after the entering-flight, others only up to 60-days, so just checking if this is correct.
