Good day to all.

I'm looking for some advice according to my trip in thailand.

I have a budget of 2000$ ( - 700$ for the airline ticket)

I'll go there alone with my little bag.

My aim is to discover Bangkok / Chiang Mai / Krabi etc...

I have also some professional contact to meet in bangkok.

My program :

Day 1 - arrival

Day 2/3/4 - Bangkok

Day 5/6/7/8 - Chiang Mai

Day 9/10/11/12 - Krabi, Surat, the islands

Day 13/14/15/16 - Bangkok

Need your advices . Thanks

And question, what do you think about the Woodlands Inn in bangkok Hotel ?

I'm young, no matter with the luxury hotel !

Thanks

Hi Mate

Ive travelled round Thailand 3 times now, two of those times on my own. Now I live here. First of all I would advice that when you get off the plane go and find the taxi rank outside. Do not get a taxi from someone who will approach you offering a taxi once you get out of arrivals. Im not sure where the taxi rank is in the new airport but it cant be hard to find, if you get a taxi from one of these people they will charge you a lot of money, I fell for that one the first time i came here.

In Bangkok go and stay at Koh San Road, any taxi driver will know where it is and its were all the backpackers hang out. Theres hundreds of cheap places to stay, eat etc. Once your there youll meet people and your trip will just go on from there. When you go to Chang mai make sure you book a trek, best thing to do up there. You can book them in Bangkok at the TAT, theres one near the train station. My advice is to get a night train and sleep on the journey or go and find the bar and have a few beers with fellow travellers.

One last tip as your not there for so long, if you have the money maybe you should fly to these destinations, simple because you will save so much time for doing other things. Chaing mai is like a 12 hr train journey or a 1-2 hour flight. Flights are pretty cheap and again I think they can be booked at a TAT or do what I done and have a look for local airlines on the internet then give them a call.

Have fun

Hi,

Do you have to be in Bangkok for the full 7 days for business or is it flexible? Personally I'd be inclined to have 3 days in Bangkok and spend the extra days in both Chiang Mai and the islands. Its just my opinion but I find Bangkok ok for a few days then I want to leave.

About the Woodlands, never stayed there, Classic Place is a good reasonably priced 3star hotel.

You are talking US$??

That's about 46,000 baht spending money - easily enough for a 2 week trip to all those places as long as you don't go crazy with the nightlife. No reason to stay that many days in Bangkok, you can see all the usual tourist places in a weekend. I'd extend your island trip a few more days before leaving.

Too many days in bkk, max 3 full days and you've seen/done everything, noteworthy.

Yeh i agree with you and Billfo.

Three or four days in BKK is more than enough, especially if your only in Thailand for 16 days.

Thanks for all your recommandations !

I take a little less days in BKK.

Thanks

Is "my little bag" a euphemism for something?

I'll go there alone with my little bag and trusty stick :o
