Sex When Pregnant

Featured Replies

Ladies(and gents),

Is it safe for a pregnant lady to have intercourse?

If so up til when?

BTW my wife is 8 months pregnant but I don't think sex is safe.

My obstretrician told me there is no risk having sex during normal pregnancy, the cervix automatically plugs it's self to prevent sperm or anything else(!) reaching the baby or birth sack.

Once you reach the later stages of gestation then gentle intercourse is fine, the positioning is the main problem but as long as it isn't too rampant, then it is fine to do gently.

But I would point out that as it is your wife who is the one carrying around an extra 2 stone of baby & amniotic fluids, if she says she isn't up for it, then don't sulk or try it on anyway and go "help yourself" :o

Hi Mate

Our doctor told us it was fine to have sex up until we have the baby and we did, no problems. Just take it easy with her.

no problem (and then in ninth month if u want to get the contractions going, sex sometimes helps also, it also helps the contraction pain go away);

its the comfort problem; big belly, sensitive breasts, sometimes the woman just doesnt want too, or is tired (hard to sleep when big and baby is active inside);

dont always need to do full intercourse there are other ways to have fun (no oral sex where u blow air in to her, this can cause something cant remember what... sorry a bit graphic here but we used to discuss this all the time when we were all young and pregnant together), and sometimes problems with candida (vaginal itching/fungus)...

there are websites for pregnant women that also show postitions that are more comfortable etc (usually doggy style with pillow under stomach/chest area)

babies seem to enjoy also (they wake up and move around more); some women dont like it if their uterus is low and the baby's head is down and sitting on their urinary tract area its very uncomfortable when the penis hits the cervix (feels like someone pushing u from inside)...i speak from experience here.

babies are very well protected in uteruses (had a friend who sky dived til 8 th month) i rode horses til end of 8th but i weighed 22 kilo more so everything was difficult!!

if she's interested, go for it/ many women dont feel very sexy or sexual when pregnant they feel huge, veins hurt, back hurts, face swells up a bit, us white types get brown splotches , veins in legs get purple... feel like a blimp, so it helps if husband pays attention and 'wants' his wife, even for just snuggling/petting stuff... and important after giving birth too.... if she wants, all the better...

just if there is bleeding, or other problems this may be a no no....

good luck....

bina

I really have the hots for pregnant women up to about the 6th month when there faces start to look swollen.

I think their natural prettiness really blooms! :o

Nor I but some obviously like it going by some of the sites I found whilst doing a google search!

It is safe at any time (short of the onset of labor!) if the pregnancy is uncomplicated and there is not a history of prior miscarriages. If there have been any complications or prior miscarriages, the obstetrician should be consulted.

And of course the woman's own comfort and inclinations should be a deciding factor.
