shopping tax break

I am out to buy a new computer next week and heard about the shopping tax break.

I have been working in Thailand for the last couple of years in an international company and have a work permit.

The notebook I want cost 48000 THB, so a tax deduction would be helpful.

I am just wondering how does this work for foreigners? Do I need to present my work permit/passport to the store clerk to get a tax deduction?

Many thanks for any advice.

The shop charges you the standard retail price. You ask  for a tax invoice/receipt with your name on it (take your passport and work permit or copies just in case).

When you complete your online PND91 you can claim up to 15,000 baht as a deduction.

Your tax is then calculated online and if a refund is due you can upload a full scan of all pages of your passport, work permit, and the receipt (plus any LTF subscription documents, charity receipts, etc).

You will get your refund either by promptpay if you are registered or cheque if you are not, around about February/March. Promptpay is the quicker option.
