Rally123
What type of surgeon do I look up to do a Tarsal Tunnel release please? Hopefully I can find one around the Korat area.
Sheryl
An orthopedist specializing in foot/ankle problems. I doubt you can find one in Korat. There aren't even very many in Thailand (remember the Thai cultural views on feet...) In Bangkok I suggest Dr. Bavornvit Chuckpaiwong 4 years training in US including a fellowship at Harvard in foot/ankle He can be seen at Bumrungrad, or at Siriraj https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Bavornrit-Chuckpaiwong https://sites.google.com/site/ankleclinic/aboutus Bumrungrad is more expensive than Siriraj but more conveniently located for someone coming down from Korat, Siriraj is on the Thonburi side of the river. Is the diagnosis certain and conservative management already tried? As surgery is only indicated if answer to both is yes.

I had the nerve conductivity test done, a few years back, as requested by my Orthopedic surgeon who had carried out my ankle fusion. Conservative management isn't a possibility because of that. He either forgot, or I failed to hear, the type of surgeon I needed to see and I was hoping that a surgeon was now available within the Korat area. I can only ask. As you indicated it seems highly unlikely. I really don't like going to Bkk, so it leaves me with the question on how much longer can I tolerate the pain before being forced to undertake the journey? Sheryl
Dr. Bavornvit is well worth travelling to see. No one in Thailand matches his expertise. I personally travel a lot farther then the Korat-Bkk distance when I need a good specialist. I'm about to drive 6 1/2 hours today for that purpose. You may find someone willing to do the procedure in Korat but that does not mean it will be done well. Differences in quality according to the individual surgeon are huge. Sheryl
P.S. given your history and that the problem developed after surgery you definitely need to be sure of seeing a foot/ankle specislist.Sent from my SM-J701F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
